I am new to the forum and have enjoyed reading the posts. I have a client that makes high purity ceramics that go inside semiconductor fabrication equipment. They are wanting us to laser engrave a part number on the ceramic surface. It can't be to deep due to particle contaminent issues. We are using a Co2 30W pinnacle laser. Has anyone done anything like this? Any info would be appreciated.

Wouldn't the company be willing to donate a piece of the material to science?

That way, you could play with speed/power settings and by the customer's yea or nay, determine which combination works best.

That's also the best way to determine a fair price.

Thanks for the link, it should help me out. We do have access to some scrap pieces so we will be able to play around. The biggest concern is not going to deep that it causes particle problems. If all goes well they will have more work for us. I will let you know how it goes.
