Full Version: AI vs. Corel

Hello all,
I have a question about what programs you are using to submit artwork for promotional products. I currently have Corel 12 and save in either .pdf or .ai for ad specialty stuff. The question I have is that sometimes the images are not clear in .pdf format and are very clear in AI. But unless I purchase the software, I can't view it before I send it. Are you all just creating your artwork in AI? Am I just safe sending it off in the Corel created-saved .ai format and waiting for a proof? <gasp!!>

I guess my question boils down to, what is the best way to submit artwork if you only have Corel 12 and not AI? Buy AI? LOL?
thanks!!
Becky

Becky,

Most companies have their own policy on what format(s) is/are required. I always convert text to curves, if applicable, and send them an eps and a jpg version. The bitmapped jpg image assures me that they will at least have one image that can't be mis-translated. Some companies will also require you to fax a hard copy of the image as well. I always request an e-mail proof.

Dave-
As always, thank you for your input. I truly wasn't expecting a response today but I appreciate it very much.!!
Thanks again
Becky

Becky,

We didn't have any Thanksgiving plans until 3:00. We went down to Kansas City for a nice dinner and to enjoy the Country Club Plaza lighting ceremony as we do every year. It is a site to be seen. This is the 77th year of the Plaza lighting. Here is a link to the event. They start stringing the lights up beginning in August.
