Anthony,
We understand the fear factor; but, if we do not share the knowledge then how does a process take hold?
We do not understand what you mean by "Be Afraid" if it is in regards to the durability of our process we welcome all comers since the only way we have been able to scratch our images is when we see sparks!!!! Would anyone clean something in that manner?
Thanks for the tip.

Hi TNT,
I must apologize for the confusion.
As you will find in your dealings with the forum; we are a strange bunch of people. Very honest and good hearted, but strange none the less.
The incident that David was referring to incident happened last year at the ARA show in Vegas when I first met him while working for my previous company, Faro USA. We had just release a wedding line and had ONE ornament with a 4 color pad-printed image on display. We were also giving out key chains with another image printed on them. (We had about 500 of those!)The beauty of this product is that it is very difficult to scratch. But not impossible as we found out when David damaged our only piece during a demonstration. It’s one of those had to be there moments. And I refuse to let David forget it to this day.
Welcome to the Forum. Where life is never is dull!
If I can help you out in anyway please let me know. I’d be happy to help.
Best Regards
Anthony Coyne

Roy,
I'm going to keep an open mind on this one, but my radar always goes up when someone is selling a license to a process. License investments are often not wise because the process is often quickly disclosed and copied, and the early investors get caught holding the bag.

Roy,
I side with David Take-(ess) on this one. :-)
I'm keeping an open mind, but the idea of delivering full-color images from a laser engraving machine, seems so remote, that I just HAVE to see it.
I wonder if there's a Joelle or Hisashi connection? :-)

Roy,
We know our profile doesn't explain our years of experience. So we will update that and provide you with a llittle history about tnt.
tnt aka Thom & Terry have been in the Sign & Related Industries for over 30 years. Have had articles writtten about us in trade magazines and a website article. We run a major casino's signshop here in Las Vegas. for the past 10 years. We have a wide array of knowledge in the art fields. Types of signage casino's require are backlits, directionals, menus, special events props, posters, stage props, engraved table game limit signs, attractions and the list goes on. There are no pretenders here, our obsesssion is color.
July 2003 Rolands Website - Will Curtis posted an article on www.rolanddga.com in the gallery.
Sept/Oct 2003 Big Picture Magazine - Kasey King, "tnt have'n a blast"
July 2005 Signs of the Times Magazine - Steve Aust, " Small Shop Great Work"
The Atomic Art process was shown to the public at two trade shows, Stone Expo & ITSS Show and if there were apparent weaknesses, someone of the 3 or 400 people who visited the booth in that industry would have seen it. Louie Alvarez of LaserPro would not have allowed us to be present at his booth.
We do not mean to get defensive but we also understand that permanent color has never been available to engravers. Attitudes about Sign people are very annoying to us as we feel many are true artisans.
More to come,
Thom & Terry

David,
We understand the suspicion about license agreements and possibly we have mistated our intentions.
What we hope to accomplish is, to sell the entire packet that will be secured through a technology that does not allow any copying of the software and the security issues will be left to the buyer to protect the knowledge neccessary to accomplish Atomic Art.
As far as license agreements; it is hoped that all licensee's form a community of likeminded artists who can share ideas amoungst ourselves and to keep it limited enough so that all involved have a great revenue source.
Lets say you make monuments signs in Texas and we know these pieces of granite are heavy and difficult to transport, your customer needs this in New York, if there were a community of Atomic Art Artists you could have the licensee in New York fabricate your project and share in the proceeds. Then NY Licensee can in return utilize your services in Texas. Just an idea we believe this is possible if there are only exclusive licensees.
Like Las Vegas, one shop could not handle all the work in this town. Interior Designing - Kitchen & Bath - Full Color Logos - Wall Murals - Marble & Tile inlays - etc.... With the advertisements/images on all these surfaces, the LV Licensee could call upon the community to help meet the demands.
Finally; when it's all said and done, we have a valuable and exciting new process to offer laser engraving professionals.
We hope this has cleared up any misunderstandings.

Ed,
A fellow Victorvillian, Terry graduated from Victor Valley HS and VVCC.
Thom & Terry had a sign business in Apple Valley for 15 years. Price Signs.
Due to the economy we moved to Las Vegas in 1995. Sometimes we miss it especially, Mojave Narrows on Father's Day the "Huck Finn Jubilee".

Okay....I'll put the rope away....for now! Since your a "local".
Wow! So somebody HAS actually graduated from VVHS.
We have been blessed to have the awards account with VVHS and we do a considerable amount of "stuff" for the college.
Good luck on this new project. I look forward to hearing more.
But I WILL bring the rope to ARA in March. Course, "luck" will be on your side since they don't have any (hang'n) trees there (he, he). B-)

Thom & Terry,
Your process has certainly peaked my interest. I have a few more minor questions.
Would I be able to sell my Atomic Art services and goods produced with your process on the internet? If so, wouldn't this be a violation of any kind of territorial agreement you might attempt to draw up?

Thom and/or Terry,
We've seen the attachments of your work. Where can I go, in the greater Los Angeles area, to see a tangible sample?
Better yet, maybe you could send a sample, so I can offer the forum members my observations.

Unfortunately this is so new we have no tangible pieces available to send to anyone and probably March will be the next chance for people to see it. Sorry if this sounds like we are avoiding you but we need to stay focused on the process we have outlined for ourselves.
Our sons will be home for the Holidays and not much gets done during there visits we only see them together at Christmas.
The website should be up and running a little earlier than previously thought, we are running the final tests this week to see if there are any problems and it should be preened and ready by the end of this coming week.
We will post this when ready.
Also I do not know if you are familiar with Louie Alvarez with LaserPro but he has seen them up close and helped us do some scratch resistance tests on several pieces. I suppose you could contact him at the LaserProUSA.com website for his opinion if you like.

I think people are misunderstanding the License aggreement principle that we suggested.(SORRY!). Obviously anyone who buys the Atomic Art process can sell to whomever, but we intend to sell a limited number of packets and have no intention of saturating the market like the quickie signs etc... companies are doing to the sign businesses around the world. ( too many sign people doing to much for too little)
The Internet is a wonderful source to buy and sell through and most customers who are using that method are not customers anyone is actually taking from someone else. At least I do not think that is the case since they have specific reasons for using the internet.
There is also the issue of shipping and installation; for say, a tile shower enclosure a backsplash etc. Maybe our thoughts on this does not address your current line of products or what you percieve will be available with Atomic Art but many will want to get involved with the Building industry, monuments, etc.
Just a thought!

Thom & Terry,
I went to the LaserPro website, but didn't see direct contact information for Louie Alvarez. I don't know Louie, but I'm familiar with the name.
Patience is a virtue, so they say. Unfortunately, we have limited patience, when it comes to learning about and discussing new processes. :-)

There does seem to be a parallel between this thread and that of the New Etching Process, wherein claims of readily available "ingredients" are apparently being used to produce the "magic" and what's being sold is the "secret recipe."
The "cook's" primary incentive, to keep the recipe a closely-guarded secret, is the fact they had to pay for the recipe.
In my opinion, if this isn't a case of vaporware, the announcement of this groundbreaking procedure was majorly premature.EDITED: 11 Dec 2005 by DGL

Just wanted to do a little update on this topic. In the January edition of the A&E Louie Alvarez has an article on Laser Engraving Materials. In the last 3 paragraphs of the article he talks about a customer who has came up with a method to do full color with a laser engraver. He states that the method will amaze you and once the patent is final & the customer releases the process he will be writing a lengthy & detailed article.
He also makes note of the process "the images are in full, vibrant color that is is also extremely durable, wear and scratch resistant, and of course, weather & UV resistant." I do not know Louie personally but I have met him at an ARA show and took in a seminar he was presenting. His seminar was very interesting and informative to me. He writes an article almost every month for A&E. I am just relaying what I know.
Personally I am interested to hear more about this since laser engraving is a huge part of our total business. Since this article was related to this forum topic I thought some of you might be interested.
My goal is not to validate this process at this time or validate Louie but to share with you what I do know until I get all the facts. I have requested that TNT keep me informed of their progress in the release of this product. They have always be quick to respond to my emails.
