Thom or Terry,
I'm going to ask the question again, but would like you to choose the substrate. What is your estimate of time it would take, using your process, to produce one 5"x7" full color image?
By asking the above information, I'm trying to gather a production-time comparison to inkjet sublimation. I realize your process may create a superior finished product, but would just like to get an idea if this is too much of a time-consuming, multi-stage process that would make it cost prohibitive for my operation.

Did anyone make it by The AtomicArt booth? Does anyone have any more opinions to share about the finished products that were on display. I would still like to know more about this process.

David,
I'll post some photos today. I can't comment on whether this process will take the world by storm. Just like any other process, it will have its place. I doubt an awards shop will be its place.
Just seeing that full-color images, on tile, glass, stone and possibly metal, could be generated through the use of a CO2 laser was certainly impressive.
Comparing Atomic Art with ink jet or laser dye sub, in terms of production time etc. would be apples to oranges. By no means, could Atomic Art be confused with relatively "Automatic" art.
Atomic Art would have to be compared to more cumbersome and expensive processes, such as kiln-fired ceramics, that render durable images, suitable for outdoor use.
I'm not sure if Atomic Art has been submitted for accelerated fade-resistance testing, by Wilhelm Laboratories, which would be a requirement, in order to be taken seriously by the architectural trades.

David, I asked. There was a 6" x 8" tile and I was told 45 minutes to complete. I have to many facts and figures bouncing around in my head to remember what it was a picture of, but all the samples shown were 'full coverage'. I can't remember (and the strongest drink I had was an undiet pepsi :S) what the size of one mural was (?12" x 24"?) but it took 2 hours to complete.

"I'm older than you" that's my excuse :P
I'm entering all the info I received in a spreadsheet trying to make it more apples to apples in my comparison. The three manufactures understand I won't make my purchase until I see how our legislature votes on the small business bill on the floor.
I'll be sending you a PM later.....for a couple of questions I thought of on the plane.

Zona,
When do they vote on that bill??? I went ahead and purchased some software which probably won't be included in the bill, but I will also be finalizing purchase of a badge printer this next week and hope they make the law retroactive.....

I haven't had a chance to check what happend the last week, but the law is written (subject to changes) that it will apply only to small businesses on purchases after June 30, 2006. These purchases (after June 30) will not be subject to personal property taxes anything before will be the same as always. That's why I'm waiting at least until they vote to make my purchases.
