That would be unique and beneficial. New Hermes got around the problem of not being able to slow down the machine with a one byte number by making vector 1/10 the bitmap speed.
Everyone has their own method of getting around issues, but it gets confusing. (Why not just send out two bytes?) Even if it is an 8 bit processor it can be done.

According to the specs provided to Engravers Journal in a laser system comparison buyers guide. the Legend 24 EX and 32 EX have a max carriage speed of 120 ips. The 24TT is rated at 80 ips. May 2004 issueEDITED: 13 Sep 2006 by PENINSULATROPHY

Although he hasn't fille out his profile yet, I'm almost sure that James has a Legend 32 which is slightly slower than the Legen32 EX.
