Full Version: Do you have a website and who set it up?

Jo,
I have a website up now, but have not gotten product entered. www.americanpacificawards.com
We worked with John Fish ( of EE forum fame). He is reasonable, fun and knowledgable.
I could have taken the time to learn to do it myself, but I have a theory that one should pay folks to do what THEY do well, and YOU do what YOU do well, and you will come out on top.
I realizes it's a kick in the pants to do ones own website, and fairly easy also, but how much money could you be making in your business in the same amount of time you would spend on your website?

My website will be my showroom once I get products entered and from what I have heard from others in this industry is that a website is almost a necessity.

Another site that John Fish has helped on is David Takes's site, www.expressionsengraved.com

Just my two cents, want change?

IMHO from a non-expert, that looks like a great start.

Some sites have three columns with links text and pictures all over the place. You have to sit and stare for a long time trying to figure out what of substance is there.

Yours is very uncluttered but you can easily figure out where you want to go.

Chuck,

Something for you to nip in the bud..... The SSL image on your page indicates it is a secure site. I didn't see the lock on my bar so I clicked on the SSL logo to check for a secure server certificate.... I was sent to a web site called Country Images in Kansas!!!!

I would get this fixed before going public...... I don't know if that is your old site or another site that John did, but it sure isn't APA!

Ooops, my fault, that's Aleta's page from CImages. I was installing them at the same time, I must have missed that link.

Thanks, I'll fix that....

All fixed. Of course Chuck doesn't actually have a security or privacy policy yet, but it does go to a "Coming Soon" page until we can come up with some content. I have some "standard" content, but he'll need to ok it first.

Steve,
Thanks for pointing that out. Nice to see that Fish is on top of it. I never would have caught it.
Other than that, what did you think of the site?

We could probably steal it from David T's site, he has good content....

JUST KIDDING DAVE.

But seriously, you might ask Dave if we can use his as a template. Or we can steal it from somewhere else....

Very nice! I am still working on a "splash" page for my site... built using a commerce site software. You can take a look at http://www.photogiftsandawards.com ....... I haven't worked on it in quite a while, but you can get an idea where it is headed. Mostly personalized with sublimation for now.

Country Images is my site that John is doing with me. Yes, I have a few bugs to work out, but John has fixed them all, asap, even the ones I caused! :) Sorry John!

I am still working on my site, working on what to put on, how to arrange it , etc. But any questions, John as answered quickly and in my language. ;-)

Harold,

I get those plates and a lot more from a company called Island Wood ( a.k.a. Island Imports). www.islandwoods.com

They are in Honolulu and ship world wide. Primarily I carry the round and square plates with stands, Tikis in two sizes, bowls in three sizes, wooden goblets, and small decorative boxes. All make great gifts, awards and trophies ( non traditional of course ) .

Chuck,

When I click on "Products" from your site, I get: Security Failure. Data Decryption Error.

Could be a Mac thing.

PS - I like the referrals section. Lends credibility. Not that you lack any. :-)

David,
Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot.

I will have Fish look into the error. So far you are the only one that has mentioned it, so it might be a "mac" thing.

Chuck,

Not only a Mac thing, but maybe an old Mac thing. My wife is up to OSX, I'm still plodding along with OS 8.6 :-$
