Thanks for the back up. I know for one we would like to meet David person to person. My wife has even suggest a road trip out to David's place. Someone needs to check his place out. ;-)

I keep planning to drop in on him - he's only something like 75-100 miles away. Perhaps he'll book an early flight out of KC on Wednesday and we can talk the whole way to Las Vegas - and I'll get to meet him first :P

If nothing else he should fly out just for the party and prove he is real. South West has got some cheap flights. Rolf is buying Ice Cream - so food would not be an issue. ;-)

I am also a new forum member. I hope to meet many of you in Las Vegas soon as I plan to go also. I own a gift shop in Albuquerque where I sell primarily hand turned wood items (pens, bottle stoppers, bowls, key rings, etc) that I make. I got an Epilog mini, 25 watt engraver so I could engrave my items in house. I had been doing a lot of craft shows before opening the store and offered engraving as an option but the buyer had to wait for a couple of weeks for me to deliver the item. I opened the shop in a tourist area so I needed to be able to engrave at the time of purchase. After buying the engraver and learning more about it I also started making a lot of Christmas ornaments and other engraved gift items. I'm looking forward to learning from others on this forum and hope I can be of help to some too. BTW, you can see some pictures of my shop and the items I sell on my web site at www.eTreasuredCreations.com.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you'll have lot to offer, in the way of knowledge; and who knows?; maybe some products.

Will you be attending the Thursday evening get-together?

Joe,

You didn't miss the absence of my name. As much as I hate to say it, it's not looking like I will be making the show this year either.

I was confronted with the opportunity to invest in my future and buy another piece of (used) equipment. I decided to do so and justified it by using as much of my liquid resources as I could. That meant no show, but a good long-term business decision.

It is amazing how emotional I get when I think about missing the opportunity again of meeting all of you, who I only know through the typed word. All of you guys and gals have a special place in my heart. We will meet some time. It looks like I may have to bring the "show" to me at some point this year. If I do, it will be quite a show. Nothing but the best for my FRIENDS!!!

David,

I truly hate that you won't be joining us...I was really looking forward to meeting you!

My "day job" has me traveling about the country several times through the year (I'm in Minnesota as I type this), and Kansas City will probably be one of my stops this year. I'll make it a point to go up to St Joe to meet you.

All the best, my friend.

We don't give a Hooty Whoo about their being "forum challenged", as long as they can buy a round (the list is up to 44+). (devil)

DAVID, DAVID, DAVID!!

The "List" is way too long at this point for Quark's. I know you and others are approaching The Beach. At this point, Quark's is not configured properly for this size group. We had problems last year putting tables together and getting service with FAR LESS than this size group. As you will recall, there are lots of physical obstructions, floor to ceiling, that tend to chop up the space such that it's just not conducive.

My suggestion would be Quark's for each night EXCEPT Thursday, and The Beach or... for Thursday.

Ed,

I think you're right. I'll call The Beach. Their online request method didn't result in a return contact.

Ed: I could not agree with you more. Although Quarks is OK most of the time the number of people we are talking about will not work well in Quarks at all.

This is getting a bit exciting. The one DSSI had there was really good.

Just no Karioke. The people were good but it was way too loud. That was not why all were there.

Sad to say but I'll have to be missing Las Vegas this year. I am just back, and heading back over, to the hospital. My husband has had a heart attack (he's only 50!), without the usual symptoms. Had the attack about 3 weeks ago, and just felt crummy, like he had the flu, but without the usual symptoms. I've been nagging to get him to go see the DR, and finally this morning he said he would. Called me at work and told me about the heart attack and I thought he was kidding! But I guess not, and it looks like he'll also be looking at bypass surgery, so it really doesn't look like I'll be leaving town for anything in the next few months.

So you guys all have a great time, and post when you get back about all the great classes:(( you attended, and hopefully I'll be back next year.

Cindy M
