So how do we distinguish ourselves as EE members? Is there a secret handshake or something? LOL

You can usually recognize a fellow member by the goofy smile on their face. If that doesn't work, we have a secret greeting: three cartwheels, followed by a loud "hooty whoo!".

;-)

There's been some talk about a nametag design just for EE members, but nothing's been finalized yet.

All right, but if I throw my back out doing these cartwheels, there's gonna be heck to pay.
And it was a "hooty whoo" right?

Rebecca,

We haven't formalized a badge design. Last year, a few of us just made our own.

Faro USA furnished some nice pewter pins that we wore during the show. The pins were handed out at the Faro USA booth, which "forced" us to look at their offerings, which, by the way, were quite nice. :-)

I'll see if we can arrange something with Faro USA this year.

I finally got home.

Here are the EE logos. One for drag engraving, one for routing, a cloor one and a b/w one.

What's a cmx file?

Um...for that matter, what is a "plt" file? Sorry, but I'm still getting to know all this stuff.

plt is Hewlett Packard Plotter Language. Most modern engravers import this file. Corel Draw does also.

CMX is Corel Metafile Xchange, (I saved them in version 5, older version). Most graphics programs can import this file, it is native of Corel so that can import it also.

I can convert it to any format that Corel can export.

Is that a challenge ;-)  Are we only official members if we can do the "three cartwheels, followed by a loud "hooty whoo!"?? You know David likes a challenge...........that's why he's the "Stunt Engraver". :-)

Zona,

I surely enjoy a challenge, but I'll have to admit, at this stage in my life, I'm only good for the "hooty-whoo!" :-)

It was the gentleman from Universal Laser Sytems. Don't know if that's your guy.

I would agree.

My cartwheel-turning days are most assuredly past, and any attempt to revisit those days would be good entertainment for you, and a certain trip to the ER for me.

Maybe we should take that part out of the greeting....

OK Cody,

We'll remove the cartwheel requirement.

The vote of two makes it a landslide decision. :-)

"Hooty-Whoo!" Y'all. So you are already changing the salutation. Great. Here I can barely sit after insisting that we learn the new salutation so we can at least fit in with one group. I believe I am suffering from an EE injury. I never was very good at somersaults, much less be able to do a cartwheel. So I hollered "hooty-whoo!" , surveyed my landing site and let er rip. I forgot that I was a little larger than my drivers license states. So as I was entering the third cartwheel, I ran out of flight deck, pitched off the terraced hillside, and came to a crash landing 30 ft. down the embankment tangled up in a woodpile next to the firepit. Don't worry, I should be able to shuffle along by the end of February. So as I said before, we'll be the good looking couple with one of us shuffling along like Tim Conway.

Dave,

The kind folks at Epilog Laser have offered to provide special EE badges for everyone to put on their ARA nametags.

Wanna take them up on their offer?

That sounds like a wonderful offer. They need to be big enough for even me to see. [I think I need new glasses or eyes.]

Great! We'll take care of it!

Perhaps you or our fearless leader will have a better idea on how to communicate this to everyone but for now, I'll just say ...

Stop by the Epilog Laser booth (#477) to get your "EE Badge of Honor" ;-)

I'm guessing that anyone/everyone at the Epilog booth will know where the pins/badges will be ... but if not, just look for me (the shortest one in the booth) and I'll take care of you!

Jeanette,

Sounds great. Thank you and thank you Epilog.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but will we have a say in the design of the badge? I'm assuming the badge will be laser engraved. :-)
