Full Version: X3 grouping/ungrouping

I'm new to X3, so don't know it well. I notice that when I click on one of those objects the status bar calls it a "Control Group". From what I've read that is a master block over a clone object or effect and can't be ungrouped until it is broken apart from whatever it controls.

But I do notice that CNTL + ALT + Click lets you select individual objects in the group, so maybe that can help you edit what you want to change?

I think it's tied to cloning too, but here's a way to break it.

Hold CTRL + ALT and left-click some text in the Control Group. The text should now be selected. CUT the text (Edit, Cut or right-click the text and select cut.) The Control Group will become a regular Group which you can now Ungroup, and you can PASTE the text back into the spot.
