Dave thanks for the view. good work!!
Now you will need more "horsepower" to " winch" this topic out of the mud. A real "crawler" if you ask me. Much longer and we will have to "trac" down the real "hitch point" to this discussion.....
We need someone to "sprocket" this topic up a knotch and "extend" it's longevity before David lowers the "boom" and "scraps" the whole "undercarraige"

I'm sorry. I'll have to learn not to be so quick to take Harvey's bait. :-)
Are those wooden bases on your awards?
Looks like sublimated plates. Is that the case?

The bases are walnut with an ebony finish. The plates are laser-sublimated brushed aluminum.
The thing I like best (other than being paid for the work) is that our company label will be on the bottom of these and will be going to representatives from all levels of government - city, county, state and federal.

Just the type of thing that will drive your (out of the catalog) competition crazy, plus that type of job is much more fun to do.
That customer will be back, time and time again.

Hi Dave,
Looks great.....What is the size of the base, and the plate that is attached?
I have been wanting to do something similar, and need a specific size for this project.
Do the folks that made the bases have a web site?

The top section of the base had to be 7" x 4.25". They used a #14 cut, which is a 22.5o angle on all four sides. Using 1" material, this creates a base that is 7.875" x 5.125" at its largest widths.
The angled sides creates an area that is 1.125" high. I chose to use a plate that was 4" x 1", leaving a .0625" area of wood above and below the plate.
That's all the details for now.

Joe,
In an earlier post I mentioned that this was a joint gift between the contractor and the State. The dozers were donated by the contractor, then the bases, sublimated plates and assembly were paid for by the State. The dozers were very, very nice.
I found out yesterday that a couple of these will end up in Washington D.C. One goes with the Senator Kit Bond and the other with Congressman Sam Graves.
My customer picked them up yesterday and told me that their list of recipients is longer than the 20 gifts they have to present. She broke the news to some of the individuals in her department that they would not be receiving one. They were a bit distraught.
