David,

I didn't vote. It's difficult to say, since they don't all begin that way.

Edit: A "Pun Zone" is probably more necessary. :-)

Or better yet, a "no pun zone"

I voted yes, and would like to suggest putting the folder on another web site.

David,

While there are several reasons I have mentioned for not being as active as I once was on the forum.......one reason.....that carries more weight than any of them is the seemingly constant bickering.......it's not why I come here.......I REALLY wish the personalities involved would just LET IT GO! and get this forum and any other forum back to being the information and help resource it is meant to be.

There is sarcasm and sniping on several forums.......can't we just let the wound heal?

Chuck,

Your sentiment is shared by many.

As you know, I enjoy a spirited debate, but I'll exercise more discretion in the selection of those debates.

As far as how forum hosts handle instances of sniping of other forums, all I can do is ensure it doesn't happen here.

It sounds like you are really concerned about sniping...it just doesn't happen often, people just don't care about you or I or other forum operators, they just want a place to get ideas and help when they need it.

I have seen FAR more sniping here than any other forum and it's usually fueled by your posts.

Now you are starting the sniping by pushing buttons.

As I have said to others, COOL IT!

If there is a new folder for useless bickering threads would that mean that we like those sorts of threads and want to encourage them? What would you call it? The Grumpy Old Man Zone? (Sorry I meant The Grumpy Old "Person" Zone) or The Battle Zone? Or just The Snipe Zone?
I vote no.

How about the 'Useless' folder?

Best idea yet.

I think a "3 Strikes You're Out" policy would be useful.

If a person posts a comment that 3 other forum members find offensive, snipey, instigative and just plain inappropriate, they receive a warning. When they receive warnings for 3 different posts, they will no longer be able to post any comment without a moderator's review/approval.

Moderators can post as many snipey comments as they please. The more they do, the more they alienate and lose respect their forum members.

Chuck,

I had a feeling that was the case, and as you know, I have a little bit of that feeling myself. I think the best advice would be for those who want to bicker, just take it outside.

David and Brian obviously enjoy their battles, but frankly, both are losing more and more respect with each episode.

Maybe someone needs to start a third forum with a no-tolerance policy to the unproductive, self-defeating jabs, button pushings. whatever you want to call it.

The bottom line is - it's getting very, very old.

You mean threads like this one? This whole thread was designed to provoke.
