Al,

Do you have photos of the output?

That may inspire some ideas.

Hi Dave, Yes, I have some samples to put up on my site and should have them there by wednesday. One will be the black acrylic and another is a vinyl piece.

You have a nice forum.

Thanks Al,

I know the notion of white toner has been the "Holy Grail" and seen, by some, as vaporware, but I know a white ink is being used in the direct ink jet garment printing process (with varied degrees of success), so my mind is wide-open to the possibilities. :-)

I,ll be selling it in two weeks David so you can forget the vaporware. I am taking the samples now to have posted on my web site of the acrylic and vinyl.

Al,

I think I read somewhere that you'll be exhibiting at the ARA show in Las Vegas.

Did I read correctly?

Hi David,
I haven,t committed as yet but am seriously considering it. I am trying a lot of different materials that I believe we can benefit the awards market with my product. I haven,t been there in about 5 years so I don,t know if we can be a positive or not. I don,t know what is currently being done and do we have a better application???

I will definately be there and look forward to meeting you.

You have a nice forum here and have enjoyed reading some of the new and older posts. Spent 22 years as a Hand Engraver doing work for the jewelry trade at .09 cents a letter.
I enjoyed reading about your friend in N.C. doing work for the jewelers.

Al,

How has the testing been going on the white laser toner? It seems like when it gets perfected, it will work great for dark substrates. It will open up a whole new market.

Hi Dave, We keep finding new applications for the white toner and that is why I am trying to get feed back on the acrylic applications in color now.
We have also been transferring onto Glass as well.
It is the opacity that is making it a good product for clear and dark glass, metal, acrylic and ceramics.

I just don,t know how this is being done now in color on these substrates and if we have a product that is cost affordable. We aren,t transferring onto coated surfaces so that may be a plus.
Thanks for your interest and please fill me in on what is being done now for some of these substrates.

It was my understanding you were using coated mugs and tiles. Are you supplying sample transfers for us to try ? I can send you a file.

Hi Mick, I just started to use uncoated and seems it is going to work out alright.
I would love for you to try the samples I send to you.
You have more experience with the uncoated then I do and would appreciate your feed back.
I have done dishwasher testing and it has held up so far but don,t have enough runs as yet.

It will scratch by scraping it with a quarter. It is pretty durable on the glossy ceramics and glass.
Send me your address.

I quit smoking Mick. Been sick ever since. Are you going to Vegas this year?

Brian, I,ll try to get yours today.
My associate from West Bend is coming here tomorrow and Friday.
It works well on metal Brian.
I have done more wash testing on uncoated tiles and it is peeling off in some areas so that doesn,t have an application for uncoated mugs unless you hand wash them.
I an going to test further on coated mugs as we haven,t seen any problem there as yet but only have 2 washes on them.

Acrylic works great and did some transfers on JDS MIRAGE ACRYLICS from the backside and it looks super due to the opacity of the white toner. It also adheres very well at 375 F for 90 seconds.

Mick, Glad to hear you are feeling good from not smoking. I am not feeling good from quitting as yet. I guess after 52 years of smoking it takes a while for the body to adjust.

I can,t suggest using the white toner on uncoated mugs as it isn,t holding up in the dishwasher as first thought. I am continuing to test coated ones. Uncoated tiles are good and glass as long as they don,t go in the dishwasher.

I don,t have a booth as yet but will keep you and all informed.

Thanks for the offer and will send them today.
