Cindy,
Great advice!
When we set up our storage area, we found that it was necessary to mark all FOUR sides of each "normal" box, as they sometimes got turned around when putting them back onto their shelves. The flat boxes (engraving stock) just have contents marked on the ends.
One issue that we won't have to worry about (as much) with the new move is exactly WHERE we store an item. At our present shop, some stuff is kept behind/under a long counter, while the rest of it is in an upstairs storage room. We don't have any "good" way to track product location.
Do you (or anyone else) have suggestions for tracking what shelf a particular item is stored on? I'd like to use something in Quickbooks, if possible. I know there are "custom" fields that you can set up in the Item List, but I'd like to see what other folks are using.
We're really looking forward to moving everything to the new shop. It'll be lots of work, to be sure....but it's very exciting!
Thank you for the advice, and for the words of encouragement!
Cody

New pics are here!
We're finally moved completely out of our old location. Once we have our showroom fixtures (Thursday or Friday of this week), we'll be completely moved INTO this one!

I just loved our first job to run at the new place, so I took a picture of one of the plaques and put it on the site.

It's shaping up nicely. Very ambitious undertaking.
