Chuck - Congratulations on that prize - I bought one a few years ago when Roy first started talking about them and you will love it!!! After you get it set up if you have any questions give me a call - the instructions are some what normal for those types of scanners - vage! Very deserving of your hard work.
Very nice of you Mike - but what else could we have expected. ;-)

Joe, my folically challenged friend ( insert good natured laugh here)
Thank you for your kind words.....
Yes that is VERY generous of Mike. I'm not worthy.
But Mikes kind and generous offer is a PRIME example of what makes this forum special......the comraderie, the family, the friends and the helpfulness of all of the members....
As I mentioned at the bash, I have never seen so many helpful folks in one place. There were so many people there that have helped me....progress and have spent time with me......and there are many that weren't
When I knew you had gone home, I was sad...then when I knew I was probably the last one there it was sad too...because it was Soooooooooooo much fun...a couple of times I said to Lisa, "Hey,,,there's Joe..........but NOOOOOOOOOO.........( insert laugh here)
Anyway, a splendid time was had by all.....359 days until the next one.
:D

Mike,
How generous of you to give Treavor's gift away! B-)
Seriously, you caught us in "the nick of time". We had your scanner boxed up & ready to ship today. We'll put AlohaBoy's name on the sticker now & get it to him pronto.

Jeanette,
Thank you! I told Treavor that 1/2 of anything won was mine B-) . No really we don't have as much use for the scanner as someone else would and who better than our good friend Chuck.
Now if I can find someone who wants a tube of grease. >.<

Tthat is the finest grease there is for any moving surface that uses grease. It will probably quadruple the lifetime of those surfaces.
When you figure it that way, it could be the most valuable prize that was given away.

Mike,
Thank you and Treavor for such a magnanimous gesture, and your kind words.
So here is the scoop. When the HP arrives, I will give my Epson 3170 to anyone who needs a scanner.....sort of my way to pay it forward....so to speak.
Thank you again Mike, for the scanner, for your help and mostly for your friendship. It means a lot.

I was looking at the pictures you posted and wondered if there's a way I can add some names to the photos, while I still remember who some of the people are? :-)
I see where people can add comments. Would that be the way to do it?

I have no doubt David was pleased with the plaque, it looks great.
People might think than someone in the awards industry would detest getting a plaque. That is not the case.
I gave the city a very steep discount on some medals we don't sell anymore and were just collecting dust for a visiting school group they had no budget for. (They also buy many things at regular price.) They took the time to send a personalized framed and signed paper certificate in appreciation. I hung it on the wall as I thought it was very nice of them and made me feel good about a simple thing.
Several years ago the late Stanley Marcus of the high end Neiman Marcus retail store chain wrote an OpEd piece to the Dallas Morning News suggesting that awards were basically a waste and a more appropriate reward would be a nice piece of Stueben Glass (not personalized). . . Guess who just happens to sell Stueben glass?
Our late founder, Bruce P. Robbins had a rebuttal, which was also published. There were some very good points, which I wish I could remember. But it ended something like . . . I can make any award I want
but the most cherished is the one that hangs on my wall . . .
presented to me as the Trophy Dealer of the Year by the TDMA.
