Greg,
Select the object then go to the Interactive Contour Tool (in Interactive flyout, in toolbar).
Property bar will be repainted with all the parameters you need.
inside/outside? Number of steps=1? Offset= .005"? etc.
Really the same as Effects>Contour, but many of us prefer the interactive mode.
You'll probably want to Ungroup the new Contour from the control object and delete control object.
New in Corel 10 & newer. We can now contour even a group! Just thought I'd throw that in because very few are using it, but it sounds like you are doing inlays and it normally won't help in that case.

Michael,
This is a good work-around, but I do need it to work for complex figures.
I did find the Contour feature that does do the job!!
Thank you.

Mr. Brewer,
Thank you for the additional information. It looks like the Interactive Contour flyout comes up when I select Effects/Contour in CorelDraw12. I knew Corel had to have this function.
Thank you again.

Greg,
Not trying to be a smart aleck, but that's the regular Contour; it will most often do the job and is less "abstract" than the Interactive Contour tool.
You'll have to fiddle with the Interactive Contour tool (found in the Interactive Tool flyout just below the Artistic Text Tool), but after you get the feel of it, you'll find it handles many contour requirements quicker.

Mr. Brewer,
Ah, I see it know. I finally found the correct item to select. I'll play with it some more and practice using it to adjust cuts slightly for wood inlay.
I need to attend a CorelDraw class to get up to speed with the newer version. The last I had was version 8 and before that 4, so there's something about me progressing in jumps!
Take care.
