Full Version: Are we back already?

Just got back from a full weekend of work. I am not up to speed yet. Came home to email messages and an accomplished fact of the Grand Return.

Chuck,

We are back on the original server, but as to a move to another server, I will let David respond to that.

I am noticing that we are coming in on another page, and bypassing the Start Page once we log in.

Another 'Ungrowing Pain'.

Harvey,

The url I have bookmarked is http://www.engravingetc.org/forum/ and it takes me to the password page, I press enter and it takes me to the start page. This has always been the normal process for me. I don't see what you are seeing.

Check your preferences. There is a setting in there that allows you to bypass the start page, maybe somehow it got set.

Jeff,

Actually, our good friend Dave Loda officially stepped down as a co-moderator. His business has really taken off and he felt didn't have enough time to devote to moderating the forum.

We loved his picture so much, that we haven't taken it down :-)

Thanks again Dave Loda. We appreciate your years of devotion to the forum members.

Chuck,

In order to move back to Beehive, without losing our archived content, we're back on the original server, hosted by Cherie Derrick and Terry Greenlaw.

Moving to a new server would have meant another disruption of the forum, which may have come with issues in restoring our up-to-date content.

We'll hang out and bask in the ongoing generosity of Cherie and Terry for a while, and move to another server in the future. When that time comes, we'll provide ample notice.

For now, I feel it's best to get settled in and back on track.

I mean, c'mon! One disruption at a time :-)

The stress in my life has just been reduced by a few notches. I would
sing like my old friend (I do mean old) Chuck Burke but, I do not want to
show him up.

A little prayer yesterday must have done some good. But I am suprised it
worked so quick. I would follow this forum whereever it goes and plan to
support it in whatever way it needs to be supported but, I feel that
better notice of major changes needs to be communicated earlier in the process.
I still have no idea why we moved and why were back - just glad we are.
The person who was the admin. at the .biz site seems to be a very nice
person and I thank him. If we as forum members need to supply some
support to having our home here then let us know I think most everyone
would gladly pitch in.

Its so good to be back !!

I agree Joe.....after all the years of this style of format, it has become veeeeeery comfortable. So much so that it's difficult to want to deal with the change. I hope something can be worked out to keep this style long term.

Glad we're back in the comfort zone. :)

Brian
You know that they say the older you get the less you accept change well.
Is that saying something about you and me? :)

It's strange, because I tend to be a trailblazer with certain projects.....but when it comes to ease of use and comfort.....I really like the way this forum works. It would be very difficult to make a change for me after having something as nice as what we have here. I really didn't like the new format in comparison, so I guess in some cases I am a stick in the mud. :)

Just think if I am this inflexible at 37, how bad I'll be at 67.......

Joe,

The person who administrated the vBulletin forum is Noel Fields. Noel's background in the computer field is extensive and quite impressive.

People who didn't make the brief move with us missed out on Noel's pictorial/tutorial posts, which amounted to short magazine articles. I was blown away!

David,
Noel's pictorial and tutorial posts were great. I did not have a chance to look at them all. Is there a way to get them over here?

Thanks Cindy

There's another perk to coming back to the "Hive" - we get you back!

Brian,

I suppose he could. They were originally part of his www.dyesubbers.com web site forum section.

I see the forum section is no longer active on his site.

Okay, okay, enough of this "it's good to be back" crap! Now get back to work with your TWO businesses: your own.....and the "business" of trying to make Chuck Burke gainfully employed. We certainly don't want the State of Hawaii's Department of Social Services to have the burden.

(he, he)
