Full Version: Revere Bowls

I find Leeber's plating quality to be average at best. I've had issues with their vases and wine coolers where I have to make sure to ask them to inspect them before shipping. This helped reduce some of the problems but not all. Their plating seems thin (?) and their stuff tarnishes past the point of being able to polish it out quicker than most vendors' stuff. I don't believe that Leeber sells mounting hardware with their bowls - but I could be wrong. I have been using Norex for engraveable Revere bowls. I buy bowls that I don't need engraved from MPI/Discount because they often can ship out of the West Coast but haven't tried to engrave their stuff. Both Norex and MPI/Discount sell hardware for mounting.

Norex is in New York State and their number is 845-353-2121. Only warning is that you need to confirm the receipt and ship date of orders if you need it quickly. They have taken a couple of extra days more than once when I assumed that the shipment would go in what I used to think was their normal next-day turnaround. I've had to air-ship while the ground shipment was in transit (if that makes sense) a couple of times and then return or keep the ground shipment. I found that if you call them a couple of times they stay on it.

Anyway - their bowls are reasonable weight and engrave pretty well.

The best I've found are pewter Revere bowls from Salisbury. They are more expensive but they engrave beautifully, don't tarnish and stay shiny. You can order from Salisbury with a mounting bracket welded on but they are around $60 your cost for 7" bowl. Good for people that are making perpetual trophies that they expect to be around for a while.
