There is now a field in the Profile for "Contact". You can add your Skype, Email (where you want people to contact you) and phone number (ditto). All fields are optional, just put in what you want from "My Controls" -> "Edit Profile"

Tomorrow we install the new wizz bang PC...to hook up to my other Vinyl Cutter ! woo hoo !!!! and as a result Skype will be functional ( fingers crossed)

Sure looking forward to some chat !

Peter :D  :D  :-)

Great news!

I've got it installed at work and home. Many of my family and relatives have it installed and love it. It is tough to beat FREE.

Feel free to give me a test call when you get it set up. "datakes" is my skypename.

Peter,

I enjoyed the visit. I even caught onto the Aussie lingo quite quickly. I do need to make sure I check my world time zones to make sure I catch you at the right time.

I am still amazed at the clarity of the sound.

I look forward to visiting again.

I am now set up with Skype. It is as clear as the microphone that is used. There seems to be no feedback at all even under bad circumstances.

Nice service for free.

Skype name DocLent

Sorry David

Signed up for Skype and added all the mentioned user names but don't have a microphone with me on this laptop. Heard your call but couldn't talk. Will try some other time. Thanks Jerre (Lazaffair)

Jerre,

Check the laptop..... my Thinkpad has a built in mike as well as the speakers. You may just have to turn it on in the volume control page....

Steve

Well I've got an old Dell 5000e and I don't think it has a mic imbedded in it, though it has something by the power button that looks like a mike . The audio card does not indicate that a mic is in place. Guess I'll just get a small mike to drag along with all the other st that seems to like to follow me. Thanks Jerre

The mike will probably just look like a couple of small slits in the keyboard... mine has 2 about 3/16" long by 1/16" wide....

You should be able to call Dell on their toll free and just ask them.

Jerre,

I saw your request to be accepted into my directory. I didn't recognize the name, but did accept your request. I tried contacting you to see if you were linked to the forum. I am glad to see you are.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop. It does not seem to have a mic either. I bought a cheap, ($6) headset with mic and tried it a few minutes ago, works great.

My Skype name is DocLent.

Just want to say, for those that havent taken the time to take up Skype and chat with some engravingetc friends...you are losing out bigtime !!!!
I cant begin to tell you how wonderful this can be, to develop relationships with some wonderful people, people of integrity, character, and honesty, people that can add to your your business, but not only that...add to your worth as a person..I certainly have met those people for real here.......

Thanks Engraving etc for that opportunity...but most of all thanks, Harv, David T .,Chuck and gang....I hope to broaden the circle even more so !

Best wishes

Peter

Peter,

It's not that I don't have the time, I don't have the OS to use Skype.

I'm looking forward to joining the conversations before long.

It would pay to get a cheap PC, not only for Skype but to be able to handle some things that a Mac cannot do. Maybe even the ability to convert files to the Mac.

I was a great enthusiast of the Atari ST. I was a developer for the 800 and the ST, it uses a truly graphics orientated processor and is super fast at even very low processor speeds. The Mac uses the same processor.

When my development system was stolen, I had to go to the PC for business reasons. I lament the loss of the old, fast, friendly machine, but do need the PC for business. My first one was a blazing 16 MHz unit.

Harvey,

You make a good point. I'm occasionally asked for help from sublimators who use PCs and although I can muddle through solutions in-person, over the phone, I'm at a complete loss.

I'm a die-hard Mac fan, but having a PC in-house could be useful.

Hello everyone,
I just received this on my Skype, and thought I would send it along. I have blocked this user, but here we go with the spam stuff. I guess people just love to scam others.

[3:59:01 PM] pascal dufrasne says: Good day,

I am Mr. Pascal Dufrasne, Branch Manager of BNP Paribas Singapore, Private Bank, 20 Collyer Quay Tung Centre Singapore 049319. I have a proposition for you.

An american Oil consultant/contractor with the Singapore Solid Minerals Corporation, {Mr.Glenn . B. Hatleberg} made a numbered time (Fixed) Deposit for twelve calendar months, valued at US$15,750,000.00 (Fifteen Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars) in my branch. Upon maturity, I sent a routine notification to his forwarding address $but got no reply. After a month, we sent a reminder and finally we discovered from his contract employers, the Singapore Solid Minerals Corporation that Mr.Glenn . B. Hatleberg died in a plane crash along with his wife, Barbara Hatleberg in febuary 2000, http://archives.cnn.com/2000/US/02/01/alaska.airlines.list/. On further investigation, I found out that he died without making a WILL, and all attempts to trace his next of kin have been fruitless as Mr.Glenn . B. Hatleberg did not declare any kin or relations in all his official documents, including his Bank Deposit paper work in my Bank.

This sum of US$15,750,000.00 is still sitting in my Bank and the interest is being rolled over with the principal sum at the end of each year. No one will
ever come forward to claim it. According to Laws of Singapore, at the expiration of 5 (five) years which is this year, the money will revert to the ownership of the Government if nobody applies to claim the fund. Consequently, my proposal is that I will like you as a foreigner to stand in as the next of kin to Mr.Glenn . B. Hatleberg so that the fruits of this old man's labor will not get into the hands of some corrupt government officials. This is simple, I will like you to provide immediately your full names and address so that the attorney will prepare the necessary documents and affidavits that will put you in place as the next of kin.

We shall employ the services of an attorney for drafting and notarization of the WILL and to obtain the necessary documents in your favor for the transfer. A bank account in any part of the world that you will provide will then facilitate the transfer of this money to you as the beneficiary/next of kin. The money will be paid into your account for us to share in the ratio of 70% for me and 30% for you. There is no risk at all as all the paperwork for this transaction will be done by the attorney and my position as the Branch Manager guarantees the successful execution of this transaction. If you are interested, please reply immediately via the private email address below. Upon your response, I shall then provide you with more details and relevant documents to prove the authenticity and this will help you understand the transaction more.

Please send me your confidential telephone and fax numbers for easy communication. Please observe utmost confidentiality, and be rest assured that this
transaction would be most profitable for both of us because I shall require your assistance to invest my share in your country, reply me via E-mail Address:

dufrasne200@yahoo.com.sg

regards
Mr. Pascal Dufrasne
