Full Version: web domain problem

Hi everyone, I was just doing some updating to my web page and when I went there, it was gone! I have a domain, I renewed it with my web provider a week ago but now it is gone. The web provider has not responded to any emails in 2 days and most emails get returned undelivered. I am not sure what my next move is? Has anyone had this problem? I hate to loose my domain as it is on all my advertisements and labels. :'-(

I think I will need to go and start a new web page with another server and try to get my domain with someone else, any suggestions?

Thanks,

Your profile does not list a web site? What is the address.

Maybe the server is down?

Aleta,

Hope you get up and running soon.

If not, I suggest contacting our forum administrator John Fish. Very responsive. Very affordable.

I'm resting very soundly at night, knowing John is at the helm of our site.

Yes, I didn't list it yet, as I was waiting for my new overhaul. But it is cimages.us

At least it was! :-(

Yes, I just did contact John Fish, I am awaiting his help on my web site already for my over hauling of it, and now it looks like I might have to have a new server and domain too!

Hopefully he can help me with this newest problem.

Thanks,

Aleta,

If John can't help, nobody can. :-)

I have no financial axe to grind in suggesting John. The work he's done for us and the timely and efficient manner in which he goes about it, has been extremely impressive.

Aleta,

It looks like you registered your domain through www.comforthost.net. Are you using them for your hosting services as well? Their toll free number is 888-715-9609. You may have this number already. Their main office is in Barcelona, Spain.

And they claim their main office is in Canada, their Whois contact number is bogus, and the domain name is registered to ComfortHost Web Hosting, not Aallen, and has a clientTransferProhibited block on it. They don't seem to own any servers, they lease just like I do. Several other inconsistencies with their site that send up red flags. (Poorly rewritten site from boxedart.com).

I'll do the best I can to help, but it looks like a wash. The best thing is to just start over and go on with a new domain name IMHO.

John,

I saw that transfer block on her WhoIs report and knew something smelled fishy. I would confer that it would be best to get a clean start.

I bet this one really gets your blood flowing. (devil)

I also noticed that ENOM was involved in the transaction.....

I hate it when scams happen, I don't like to jump to conclusions, but that is really what this looks like.

I'll do what I can to get everything going again.

Well, I think everyone is right, they took the cash and ran! (devil)
To make the injury worse, I have a small storefront at home and planned on changing my business mostly to internet soon. That domain is printed on everything I have sold, advertised, etc for a year now. :'-(

Yes, John is helping me, and I feel better knowing that. I will have to start over new and will be going with John.

Well, I better get going, I have horses to wash and a show to go to. I guess I will be really steaming after this and then the hot 100 degree weather I am headed outside to! >.<

Thanks everyone,

You don't necessarily have to change your web name, maybe just your server/host. Hosts and domain names are handled differently, but a lot of times the Host will "order" it for you.

Depends on if your former host already bought it for another year, but it looks to me like they didn't. You might be able to buy it through a different service.

So hold on to hope while Fish helps you out. You should be able to keep your website info the same.

Does the transfer block" necessarily mean a red flag? I have a "CLIENT-TRANSFER-PROHIBITED" listed on my Who-Is too, but it is a lock I can activate or deactivate within the admistrative area of my domain. From what I understand, in my case anyhow, is that this lock is for protection so that random hosts cannot request a transer behind my back; I will have to unlock the domain to initiate any transfers.

from what I've read, most are enabled by default.

Yes, that's true, and in this case it seems that ENOM is protecting aallen. It looks like she will be able to hold on to her domain name, and if she wants, I can find her a home on this server including an installation of my new CataCart.

David T and I are just finishing up a catalog/shopping cart specifically tuned for the A&E industry. He has been a great help. I can't seem to hide ANY bugs from him ;-)
