I am hoping someone can walk me through converting a file to a vector image. I have adobe illistrator and streamline. I don't know much about either program. I need to clean up a couple of graphics to laser and just convert a couple of black and white ones. One I need to take the background out of. I know if my kids were around, they could do it!

You mean you want to learn how to do it yourself, or you just want it done?

I can't help with your programs, I've only used Paint shop Pro for image prep and CorelDRAW 12 and Corel Trace for vectoring.

But if you want to send it to someone to have it done for you for 9 or 18 dollars... check the Links sections here and ask Pete to do it. He's done well for a bunch of people here.

But even though it's a pretty good learning curve, it's good to keep at it and do the simple things yourself. You're always going to have to play with images, even if they're good vector ones, as you'll want to make customizations. So you'll need to know it eventually. It just on when you want to do it, and how much of a hurry you are in for a finished product.

Sorry I couldn't help more

I do want to learn to do it myself. I sent one to Pete yesterday. He did an excellent job and was very quick---all for on ly $9.00. The reason I want to learn to do it myself is---I have some graphics I want to play with and experiment. I hate to pay for a lot when I don't know if I will end up using them.

Hi Tracy,

Trust me 9 bucks is not alot in the scheme of things...You will realize this once you try streamline and the other associated softwares that you need to do a good job. It takes a knack, not a magic software. I have two artists on staff, with a combined experience of over 30 years at our shop.....Most of which was computer experience......I still send bitmaps to Peter on occasion, because it's not worth our time when he can do them for $9.00 each.

If it's a labor of love, I suggest you find some illustrator and streamline user groups to learn with. If it's just for saving money....you would be wise to send them to Peter unless you have more time than money......alot more time. :)

Good luck,

Brian
