I was recently asked by a customer to reproduce an Illinois Governors Home Town Award. The original supplier of that award was relunctant to duplicate it at first so I asked where I could obtain the artwork. They told me they would get me a copy. After several weeks they elected to reproduce the award as per my original request rather than supply me with the artwork. My customer is happy but my curiosity has been raised. Does anyone have any information if and where this artwork can be obtained?

I don't think so because he told me that there are other shops that produce these awards. I'm not that familiar with the program but I believe that there are a substantial number of awards given every year for different catagories and regions. My customer had called him originally to reproduce it and they refused saying that it was too old and they only kept the artwork for two years. After some prodding they "found" the artwork for me and gave me wholesale pricing so I can't complain, however it sparked my curiosity. They use a photographic process to make these awards, we only offer laser engraving right now so I couldn't bid on the contract if there was one.

They may be getting tired of the same old, same old and could be open to new twist.

If the original supplier of the award is reluctant to continue the program, it may be time for a changing of the guard.
Just because you don't perform a process in-house, shouldn't be reason enough to count yourself out of the bidding.
Do you have a sample of the award? You mention a photographic process. There are very few mysteries in this industry.
We should be able to help you nail this one down.

The meaning I took from John's post, says the original supplier of the award didn't furnish him with the artwork.
They found the old/lost artwork, created the award and gave John a wholesale price for the award.

This award has changed over the years, so as you say, why not now? It used to be a large silver revere bowl on a wood base.

I think it was Uncle Steve who suggested a change in design. Probably not a bad idea.
A Revere bowl on a wooden base is a classic combination, but as old school as you can get.
I was suggesting a change in the maker of the award, from one who apparently can't dredge up enthusiasm for the project, to an eager beaver.
A new maker, with new design concepts, may be the winning combination.
