I got one yesterday as well. I used to be an ARA member but no longer. My wife browsed through it but I haven't as yet. I did notice the high cost when flipping through when it came.

Some big bucks were spent on this endeavor for sure!

Dee,

You had the same reaction I did. I saw some products I liked, but I prefer to buy and negotiate with the original source, not another middleman.

I called them yesterday... the lady said they did an ARA mailing, and that they are now members of the ARA... I was just happy to see that they are located in Ohio, as most of the gift companies have been in, MA, CA, NJ, or NY. It was also nice to see that there is no min... as some companies are asking $100.00 or even $250.00 . They seemed very professional on the phone, a friend of mine who lives in Cinci is going to drive by their office/warehouse and give me an update.

Have a great day and good business.

I guess I'm the newbie when it comes to giftware and such... besides Creative Gifts,,, what are the other "companies, distributors, etc". Sorry to be a pain but we're about 2 years behind in northern Ohio. Seriously any help in this regard would be most appreciative...

Thanks
Rob

We got one yesterday also. It will be interesting to see what develops as the main contact info is on the webpage. They may be a double edged sword as the letter included with ours stated that they would also engrave for an additional fee. Could be working both sides of the fence.

Mike,

I just got off the phone with Quality Gifts, again. They said that they DO NOT sell to the end user. I always like to ask if they sell to the end user via a company under their ownership, but under a different name. Emphatically, NO!

David,
I have made 1 purchase from them. All I had to do was FAX them a copy of my sales tax certificate. I received my order the day after I placed it.

I just received the same and wondered who they were and what their track record is. Does anyone here order from them?

Cindy,

My impression is that they are new to the mass market. Dee Lentchner is the only person I am aware of who has done business with them. Her post explained that she had only place one order with them.

I got mine as well. I found that the prices were higher than some. But I also found that i can get more items from one location and save on shipping.

I couldn't get the e-mail to go through so I had to call the number on their website. They said I'd be put on the waiting list for an extra catalog when it became available.

We received one also. My first thought was "somebody is paying a chunk of money to print this one". Maybe it's us.

And, yes, we are members of ARA, as you know.

I'm weighing in a little late, but I did receive one of the "mega catalogs."

They could use more of a description for some items, such as Revere bowls. Plenty to choose from and I'm sure they come in all degrees of quality, but other than differences in weight and price, there are no indicators of manufacturer or quality, i.e. Taunton, Oneida, Reed & Barton etc.

Naturally, in much larger quantities, going direct with their "partners" would be preferrable, but they're providing a valuable service in offering small quantities, with no minimums.

I also like the fact, the opening pages (dealer pricing etc.) are detachable, making this a nice catalog to put on your counter for customers to peruse.

David,

The thing I don't like about the pricing is that they only keystoned the price. On most gift items I divide my cost by .3 to get my selling price. It is likely I will never show this catalog to a customer.

Hi Gang!

We just recv'd our first order from these guys... we ordered a Brandon Footed Centerpiece bowl,,, Irish crystal (Shannon)...it is absolutely beautiful... we also rev'd a Taunton crystal (engraveable) bowl, totally awesome.. yea we know that the mark up is double the purchase price, however with the add on engraving charge ,, we are very happy.

I have to agree with DGL on this one... they may be a tad higher,,, however for small shops like mine,,, I prefer the no minimum order.
Allows for better inventory control and better cash flow. We have the cataloque out on display and are in the midst of a flyer announcing our complete line of giftware. We look at it this way.. 2 times something is better than 2 times nothing...

Have a great day and good business.

David,

It could work if you tell the customer the catalog price doesn't include engraving or shipping of the item to your store.

Of course, if the suggested retail were like the Owens catalogs, you could include all that in the price, or even discount the items to "favorite" customers and still come out ahead and a hero to the customer. :-)
