Cindy,
I would prefer to have the price list in a separate booklet in the case of Quality. Having the customer see a published price that is much less than what I have on the shelf is not a good thing. I can't think of another way to do it.

I did add an engraving charge to the items I sold from the catalog.

I agree - for Quality, the price in an insert would work better. I found some items also that we have in the showroom for a much higher price. I've hired a person for the showroom, and one of her jobs is to make sure there isn't a duplicate item in any of the catalogs we're showing to clients where the price is posted lower. If we find one in a catalog we like, we're putting a sticker over the catalog price and our price there instead. As you can imagine, this has been very time consuming. Don't know of another way to do it. Quality isn't the only catalog we run into this with. GG is the only one I liked having the pricing shown, because we just ordered and sold for the price shown.

Cindy,
Are you hand writing these stickers or printing them so they look official? I like Tropar because we sell for their prices + engraving. Who is GG?

Sounds like Golden Graphics to me.

gg is Glass Graphics. We get a lot of our glass from them. Their pricing includes as many words and logo as you want, so it was really easy. Now there is just a lot of flipping and clients get tired of searching for items in their price range. Also, I've noticed that if you have to keep asking "how much is that", and then "how much is that", clients do not like to do this. It is more of the time consuming stuff, but I think I need to have my PTer put price stickers on each page also. We did that for our more commonly ordered items, but not for every item. It's a big catalog and there isn't always enough time.
Too bad we can't get our pricing wish lists to our suppliers so they can do the catalogs in a way that works best for us. Surely there is a majority of us who find we like to do things the same way in regards to this issue.
In regards to price stickers - we used to neatly print them, but now just go through and make a long sheet of paper with the prices we need, then print the stickers out on our printer. Much more professional look.

Cindy,
I never thought about it in the respect to the customer's price range. I am going to take your suggestion and do preprinted labels for the items we carry in the Quality catalog. (Hear that Harv!)

Maybe we can get together and come up with a "preferred" way we would like to see pricing in catalogs and present a written "idea Sheet" to suppliers at the ARA show. Perhaps one of the moderators can start a folder where we would put our preferences and we could see if there is a consensus opinion. It may be a waste of time but who knows.

Take a look at the poll I just put together.

I have been thinking about adding some jewelry to my current line as well. Things that compliment what I already sell. I've noticed that while the economy is not that great here in Michigan, people still buy jewelry.

I just received my first order from Quality Gifts.

I got a knife and a silver business card case. They look fine. Shipping (FedEx) was only $4.20. No complaints there either.

Ordered them Thurs. came this afternoon (Monday).

I just wish I could find a cheaper source for the card case, I need 50. They are on page 125, Item "T".
