I think I will FINALLY make it to a show since Chicago is so close AND I've bribed my husband into coming home from NY to tag along ;-)

Hope to see some of you there!

Laura,
I have a step daughter that lives in Chicago, and I am also trying to get the hubby to say yes! Hopefully, he will. I will keep you posted.

That would be great! I HATE driving, especially anywhere in the "big" cities so I really want my husband to go. If he can get off work it shouldn't be a problem; we have friends that live there and his buddy wants to attend the show. I said it's sad that his friends are more interested in my business than he is! (devil) Maybe the guilt trip will work.

I should be coming with my son (if he can get off work of course). I will be hitting all the laser booths as I haven't as yet made a decision.

I would like to speak with any of you that does lasering so I can get your imput on your system.

I will be there Saturday at showtime (5 1/2 hour drive from Flint Mi) and be there til Sunday afternoon.

Oh, you'd hate driving in Chicago. I lived there for about 5 years. Everybody has an attitude. I think it's from living with all the congestion. Plus, if you're not driving 70 on the expressways, they will run you down! It's not too bad by O'Hare, where the show is. I think I've been going to the Chicago show for about 25 years now.

As it turns out I've suckered my husband into coming home and driving me! Yea!

Hope to see some of you there!

Being new to the industry, you would definitely benifit by coming. The educational sessions are a BIG plus. Being able to see the equipment in operation and view the new items helps with decision making.
I'm driving in on Thursday afternoon and staying at Super 8 on 83 & 72 thru Sunday. It cost less than 1/2 of the Hilton and only a few miles away. Several good restraunts nearby also.

Oh yeah, plus what a great time to bug the manufacturers about any problems, questions, with the equipment & products. I have always got the best info by talking to the other dealers around the booth. Like, my Epilog does THIS when engraving THAT, and they say, really? Mine, too. Hmmmm..... Could that be a bug in the equipment? Naw, they wouldn't send out something that's not PERFECT, would they????????

LOL about your equipment problems. We have had trouble with our Roland. When I get a job I usually like to use it on brass as I prefer the look. But also hate to turn it on!

I wish we could afford to go. But at this time it is impossible. We are really hoping to hit one of the shows next year. Possibly the one in Texas.

Wow, eastern Oregon, that's kind of a hike to Chi-town. It's just a couple hours for me. What kind of problems do you have with the Roland? I have seen those, they look pretty good, priced well, gosh, they have one for about $3000, but I wondered, because I don't see alot in the field. I also repair engraving equipment on the side, so to speak, here in the midwest. At one time I sold vision equipment, but after 9-11 it got real tough, especially with all the manufacturers around now. I wondered about rolands service. That's exactly the type of thing you can do at the show, I have a buddy who threatened to picket the booth at the show with a sign describing his problem, saying they wouldn't fix it. Needless to say, they took care of him.
Lots of luck,
Nick

Funny, but I used the same tactic with our nonfunctional hot stamping press that we purchased from Jackson. After 12 years it still has not produced any product that is salable. You can just image why they don't want me near their booth. They supply one to the certification seminar once and both Dick Reiger and I spent over 2 hours trying to get it ready but were not successful.

Hi Everyone,
Rick and I will be there also, on Friday and Saturday.
My phone number is 413-627-0551. When you get there, give me a call. Maybe we can get together and talk a little. I would love to me some of you and have a face to go with the names of people who have helped me in the past.
