After being on the phone for two days with Microsoft and Epson, my friend was supplied this link to the drivers that will work. Not sure how to find out if the XP version I have is is 32 or 64 bit yet.

The 64 bit is for new 64 bit processors. You would likely know if you had a 64 bit version.
If you have a pentium 4 machine that was bought a year ago or so it will not be 64 bit.

Thank you. I assumed :'-(  that the info in XP would have it listed.

The strange thing is when I sent them a disk with the driver, it still screwed up. When they were on the phone and downloaded and installed it, it worked.

We shut the spooler for the printer and it still crashed before the change. This time it was a Corel crash that shut down Corel, instead of a spooler crash.

hello!

I'm not sure what the fix is reading the thread for this problem. I continue having the same problem using any application to print. I have to resort to turning the printer off, or the application and starting over from there. I have already tried downloading the latest driver but to no avail. Please advise. Thanks.

I downloaded the latest driver and sent it to my friend, same old crud.

They called Microsoft help line and after about two hours the had her delete all drivers for the C86, [which she did before my driver was installed, I walked her through every step so I know it was right], then they had her download the same driver number and install it and it worked.

He had her go through so many things that she does not remember any of them, again 2 hours and a computer novice.

It certainly is the service pack 2 that did it. I have a machine that runs fine with XP and the C-86, but it only has service pack 1 installed. Windows now comes with the upgrade, my newest system has the problem. The only solution I have found is to shut the spooler, then restart it. I do not remember how to get there at this moment. The spooler, (I believe), gets the info then doles it out to the driver. Something is not being acknowledged or acted on, whammo it stalls.
