Here is a 18x18 granite plaque engraved yesterday. I thought it turned out pretty well. Customer was happy.

James,

Nice! How long is the running time on a job like that?

Run time on that was 23 minutes. I engraved at 300dpi, 100% speed, 30% power with a 100 watt Epilog

James,
Super nice plaque !!!
How did you engrave the background? Did you use a lower setting on the engraver?

Engraving the background was simple, All the text is 100% black and has a 1.5 pt white outline around it. The background is 10% black. Engraved as normal. I like doing background engraving. The first couple times I tried it I was not happy with the results, but now I do a lot of it.

Very nice work, James.

Where did you get the granite. I saw some in a Home Depot catalog but I haven't tried it yet (My closest Home Depot is 100 miles). They also have some terra cotta tile I'd like to play with.

Has anyone used the black granite from HD??

I get my granite from my Dal-Tile distributer. I have bought some granite from Lowes. As long as you get the Absalute Black you should not have any problems.
