Since I'm beginning to get caught up around here, I thought I'd put my ad back in the local paper. Do you have any ideas that might help me (and others) as far as annot so ordinary ad. I've thought of laser engraving, custom engraving, trophies, plaques, design signage(never have liked that word) and other things, but maybe someone has as ad they are proud of. Maybe we can come up with something that everyone could use as a template. Thanks, Jim

Jim,

Here are a few ads that may stimulate some ideas.

:D Have you ever thought of doing a commercial. Either radio or TV. The paper ads are great but the real exposure is in radio and TV. The cost is a little more but it really gets out there. I did that and now I'm as busy I want to be. You might want to check it out. Radio is cheaper, but you can pick the spots for TV. My commercial cost me $150. and now I own it. I can go to any station and have it run. Just an idea for you. Use the free ads papers for your business too. A ton of people read those. Check out my commerical on my website. :D  :-)  B-)

Funky,

That is some funky music on your website. I hated to leave the site in fear I would have to stop the beat.

Great ads! Thank you for sharing! I too have been trying to come up with a new ad for our local shopping guide and your ads are quite inspiring. I only hope I can be so creative!

David,
How was your response from those ads?

Chuck,

The ads I posted in this thread were from last year. Do you think I would share the good stuff? (devil)

I don't do a great deal of advertising. I feel like the rent I pay for a high-visibility commercial space offsets the need to do over-the-top advertising.

I ran about 36 radio spots during the holiday shopping season, using some trade I had earned earlier in the year. Radio response is always difficult to measure, but our sales activity was brisk during that time. Our sales numbers continue to grow.

I am looking forward to a great 2006! :-)  :-)  :-)  :-)  :-)

We went out on a limb and ran some radio ads from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve. Some spots were 30 seconds, and others were 60 seconds. The spots were placed in/around newscasts, and in Paul Harvey's breaks. We offered a 10% discount for mentioning the ad when placing an order (just as a measurement tool).

We made ONE $25 sale as a result.

HOWEVER...I had many people tell me that they heard our ads, and that they were glad to know about the products and services that we provide. They said that when they needed these things in the future, they'd come to us.

So...I have to avoid the temptation to measure the ads' success by the amount of immediate sales. We've had more NEW customers come in since Christmas than we had last year. Some left money with me, some left with their money. It's likely that at least SOME of these new folks came in as a result of the ads.

We'll probably do the same thing again next year.
