Full Version: PDF to Vector Conversion

Could any of you take a look at this PDF file to see if you are getting an error message when trying to import it into Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator? If you have any success, could you export or save it as a CDR version 10 or earlier, or an AI version 7. I am just having a bugger of a time with this one.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry David, I tried and got the same error message. That has happened to me before with other files. I've never figured out what causes it or how to fix it. Good luck!

Thank you for your attempts. I have been able to view the image in Acrobat Reader but have had no luck with importing or opening it any other manner.

I have an e-mail into my customer to get it in a vector or some other functional format. Of course, this is a project that needs to be completed by Friday morning. Don't you love those?

Funky,

Now you have to share your trick. Can you save it in version 10?

Now you got my curiousity up. I had asi try it on ther mac computer with adobe cs. It opened right away and showed the outlines.

I had them save it as adobe 8. It won't even let me transfer that file from the flash drive, read it or open it from there or let me upload it to the forum. I wonder if they have some kind of copy restrictions turned on or it has a demon.

I downloaded the trial versions of corel 12 and adobe cs and shared my findings recently in another post.

John,

I had my sister in TX try to open and convert it on her MAC, and we had no success.

I just got an AI version 7 file from someone on the Cutting Edge Sand Carving Forum. I also asked them what they did to successfully make the conversion. I'll share it here when I get a response.

I agree with you, in that the file may have demons. That is ironic, since it is the logo for our local Christian school.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro and saved it as an EPS file. It will import to Corel 9 with the PS filter.

This is the second attempt to attach it, complete lock up when I hit attach the first time. Here goes...

Well it stalled for about ten minutes but finally came back, so here it is.

Hi
I didn't try to import it in Corel 12- I opened it instead-worked fine (very large image). It may be too big to open if you don't have enough RAM and speed-I got 1 Gig and a 64 bit processor-. here it is.
Good luck
George

David,
Don't know if you got what you need yet, but I was able to open it in CorelDraw 12.

Let me know if you still need it.

By the way I just clicked on the Save A Copy button, saved to my desktop and imported it into Corel.
Good Luck,
Greg

Dave,

I assumed I couldn't open it either after several of our distinguished contributors couldn't. After converting it via Acrobat(full version 5) I went back and found it imported fine into Corel 12 (with all patches).

Roy,

I think the consensus is that it was created in Adobe Illustrator CS.

All you folks were great in your plea for help.

By the way, it was great to finally meet you in person. Thanks for stopping by for the quick visit.

Hi David

I've been out of town and just saw your post.

Here it is in CorelDraw v9.

I first saved it to a file on my computer and then
imported it into CorelDraw 12 using the pdf filter.
It opened just fine. and was editable
as when it came in there was a box around it that I delated.

I hope this helps.

Ed
