Can someone give me an idea of how far the Sahara is from the Hilton?

That I do not know, but the Hilton is across the street from the Convention Center.

When you go in, follow the signs for 'The Star Trek Experience'. It is on the far side of the building. Right below it is Quarks, a bar/restaurant. We generally meet in the smoking section, it is larger and not set up with formal tables.

Becky,
Last year the ladies dressed in evening gowns, slacks, jeans, skirts and miniskirts........I would classify the ARA Gala as "semi" formal, but it IS las Vegas, and it IS a trade show, so wear what you would be comfortable in.

I walked it 2 years ago...took me about 15-20 minutes...but now you can take the automated tram, it drops you off at the convention center/sahara/ and many other hotel/casinos on the strip... its not free.. but a 3 day pass is a heck of a lot cheaper than a cab... if I'm not mistaken, it starts running at like 6am and stops at 1am ish....go to vegas.com and look for a link...
c'ya all out there

To be exact, from the back door of the sahara to the front door of the LV Hilton, it is 2295 feet or 1/2 mile!!

And in Vegas, this is considered a short block!

In Texas, we refer to 1/2 mile as "a piece".

A full mile would be "a fair piece" (pronounced "uh far piece").

I once had "a piece" in Corpus Christie, Texas... er, never mind......... (devil)

Sure can! (and did!)

Went to UCC for a semester and the housing was 1/2 mile from the classes. That's a "piece" by YOUR definition, isn't it? ;-)

As an overall observation, people who attend the ARA show cover the entire spectrum of what is worn.

3-piece-suited business types to jeans/t-shirts, to the golf shorts and tennis shoe crowd.

In Las Vegas, you have to keep in mind that EVERYTHING is bigger than life. This is especially true when it comes to the land parcels used for development of these hotels, parking structures, etc.

Having said this, as I recall (I've only been to Vegas a thousand times), the northern boundary of the HUGE Hilton/Las Vegas Convention Center multi-block acreage is Sahara Rd. (Blvd). The Sahara hotel's backside, so to speak, is on Paradise Rd.

The frontside of the Hilton is on Paradise Rd.

So, the Sahara is kind of across the street from the Hilton, although the actual Hilton hotel is down the street quite aways. And the Convention Center is even further.

The bottomline is they're close, relatively speaking. And although you CAN walk it, you wouldn't want to. Take a cab. Or the Sahara may have a shuttle to the Convention Center.

Or, if your name is "Chuck", you wear ALL of those items...at the same time. B-)
