Full Version: Where To Stay in Las Vegas

Nope, have to sell my sticks to make the trip. :D

Actually, my sticks haven't seen much sun in the past five years. I still have fond memories of the game that actually financed the start-up of the business I now enjoy.

Not just the fear of making a complete career change, but also the starting of a new business from scratch, would cause anyone to put their leisure interests on the back burner. As my business continues to grow, I will surely re-claim some of that leisure time, along with the dusting off of the golf clubs.

Things are looking up on this front, as I have interviewed my first employee prospect this past Saturday. I recruited her. If she accepts the position, I will be excited about the positive impact she will have on the continued growth of the business. Even more exciting than that will be the personal and professional growth she will gain from working in such a great industry.

Yeah me too, fifteen years later I'm working more hours than I ever have (down to about 60-70 per). (devil)

I'm booking my room at Arizona Charlie's Boulder location today. I look forward to meeting you. I will be driving my 7 passenger van. Is parking difficult at the show? Is there a better way to get around Las Vegas?

Chris,

Looking forward to meeting you as well.

There's ample parking at the Convention Center (pay) or if you don't mind a bit of a walk, from the adjacent LV Hilton, you can park there free.

I've usually driven, while in Vegas, so I don't have much experience in the other methods of getting around.

Chris,

About the only rule about driving in Vegas is:

1. Don't drive on the "Strip" unless you have plenty of time.......
from the Sahara south to the MGM Grand can get very busy.

Your van will be great for getting around.......I'm sure you won't have any problem filling up those other 6 seats ;-)

Now maybe you are not too sure how good an idea that was!!!!!!!!

I think it was a good idea. Don't see any reason to drive a big van to the show by myself. Also, maybe someone else will know where they're going. ha ha

Any one staying at The Orleans?

After staying at both Arizona Charlie's locations (Decatur and Boulder) I have to say that I prefer the Decatur location.

I would say both locations are roughly equidistant from the LV Convention Center. Decatur may be a "little" closer.

What I liked more about Decatur is the ambience. It has more of a "Gold Rush" feel, as opposed to the traditional Vegas casino feel of Boulder.

Boulder has many more rooms, but I liked the smaller Decatur location.

At a little over $40 per night (Sun-Thur.), either location makes cents. :-)

I thought the Boulder location was OK but I really wished they had wireless internet there. I'm too used to doing all of my communicating on the internet. Does the Decatur location have it?

In addition to the dialup service at Boulder, for $.075 per call, you have the problem with the phone disconnecting every now and then. They took the extra calling charges off my bill.

Wireless, I wish. I would love to know where it is available in Vegas.

NYC has it in Central Park, Philadelphia is in the process of setting it up free throughout the city. How free, I do not know.

We just recently got a Sprint wireless card for my laptop. I think the card was about $200, and the service is about $80 per month. There's no per-minute fee...it's unlimited (except by the availability of a Sprint tower).

I was told that the coffee Keosk in the Hilton's lobby has wireless.

If I remember correctly at the Hilton it was $11.00 per day additional for internet in the rooms and $30.00 per stay for a coffee pot (supporting the coffee shop I guess ;). The wireless in the convention center was $4.00, but don't remember time limit. There was wireless in the coffee shop area, but never tried it to see what the cost was, if any. Guess that's why they have the $55.00 room rate coupons cause they make it up every place else.

Chris,

I don't have a laptop, so I didn't pay attention to the internet access situation.

That is your solution, get a laptop and get connected with the modern world. Now you have an excuse to downgrade like the rest of us.

Harvey,

You would think, that being the host of an internet site, I'd be hyper-connected, wouldn't you? :-)

Actually, I enjoy my brief periods away from the computer, cell phone, TV, etc. etc.

Otherwise, there's very little time to be introspective.
