I'm curious to know how many of you own die cut equipment to cut notched, rounded etc.. corners. I've been thinking about purchasing one but not sure if it would be worth my money right now.
I do a few pieces of brass for a local framer which requires notched corners.
Also, what type of equipment makes the round pieces of brass and/or aluminum. I'm ordering mine precut to the size I need and wonder if I would save money buying the equipment and be able to cut them myself.

Thank you. Guess that directs me exactly where to go. Wonder if it would be worth the wait for the show?
I don't know a lot about this equipment, I do have a shearer for plastic and one for the metals.
Can you tell me if the Maxi Cutter also cuts rounds for medals? If not, what should I be looking for and is it worth it?

Jo,
Main Trophy makes a die cutter for round disks. Whatever die size you use, that is the size of the disk. It is not adjustable.
Most oval, round and custom shapes are custom made or mass produced by companies like ID Plates in Mesquite, TX using dies. They are usually not created in-house.

Jo,
Here's a picture of a disc, (punch) device. They're about $500.
I once considered buying one, because it's a good way to turn what would normally be scrap pieces into cash. Also, a way to create discs from materials not offered in disc-form by industry suppliers.
Edit: If you're considering the purchase of any equipment, you may want to hold out for the ARA show. Many companies offer show specials.

Thanks once again. I think I'll wait until the show and see if there are any specials or reduced prices.
Thanks for the picture. That's exactly what I am looking for. At $500 I'm not sure it would pay for itself.

Over time, the circle punch would pay for itself. Just depends on how often you need 2" discs. In the awards industry, they're a staple.
