Full Version: How can you convert a logo for only $9???

How can someone only charge $9 for a logo conversion?

Do they use a tracing program? I thought there wasn't a tracing program out there that was that easy and fast to use.

Or are they that good? But even then a detailed logo has got to take more time than $9 worth.

they ship it overseas and pay someone $3 an hour to do the work.

No way can a program do what he has done for me. I can hand digitize from a blow up, but he even sees details that you normally cannot see due to a poor JPG.

He IS that good.

Joyce,

Without you naming the person, I instantly knew you were referencing Pete Bertrand.

I've often had the same question, but at his pricing, I've never been that curious about how he does it. I'm just grateful that he does!

A wonderful service from a truly wonderful person.

He is that good - I asked him - and his answer was that he hand traced most everything - all I can say is he makes me money everytime I send him one. No One else has ever been as close to perfect in this process as Pete has been. I have also sent him some tougher stuff and for a little more he can do the impossible. X3 is good Pete is even better - I love the new trace in X3 but Pete can do what no auto program can ever do. He is the best secret in the industry.

PETE IS THE MAN.

Peter's my new best friend
I just got my second order back and this was much more complicated. BINGO, my customer was blown away. A restaurant owner lost signs in the hurricane and needed 2- 67" x 20" single sided aluminum signs and 1-34" x 20" double sided. All he had for a logo was a colored layout from another sign company. I scanned it and emailed it and the next day, I had it laid out for my customer to see.
Haven't got the signs yet but the factory making them for me asked if I did the artwork myself (ha). Well, I did add an arrow and a few lines of text but Pete did the rest.

I'll add my 100% agreement to the other kudos shown here for Pete.

I can't figure out how he does it, either.

I don't think the man ever sleeps.

His quality and fast turnaround is unmatched.

On top of his good work and speed, I like the idea of keeping my money in the U.S.

Joyce, I would be willing to do them for you for say $20.00 if that sounds better. I am sure Pete won't mind me being the middle man. Heck, I might even pay him a little more than the $9.

hmmmmm maybe $9.50

:D

Harvey,

I believe Pete's motto is "The impossible I do right away... miracles take a little longer!"

I haven't had him do any work for me yet, but the results I have seen of his work.... well, I don't want to know how an airplane flies. I only want to know it will get me where I want/need to go swiftly and safely.

Steve,

I had a 68 year old customer come in with a pen scribble drawing of an indian mascot from when she graduated from high school. She wanted me to come up with a replication of the logo to etch on some ceramic coasters for their 50th high school reunion. I did a little freehand touch up and a scan and sent it off to Pete. I told him he had 30 days to get it back to me. 24 hours and $9 later I had clean vector art. Need I say anything else? A true chicken scratch to vector conversion.

David,

Yesterday, I sent a business-card-scan of a logo to Pete. About 10 minutes later, I realized I didn't need the logo converted.

I had to send a quick "False Alarm" email. Thankfully, Pete hadn't completed the work yet. :-)

Joyce..

I agree with David L... I don't know how he does it for $9, but I'm also grateful that he does!

I had a complicated logo that I traced by hand last year.. well, my hard drive crashed, and for some reason that logo didn't get backed up...

Of course, the customer came in needing their annual order ASAP.. I emailed their logo to Pete at 3:30.. then I had to leave the office on an emergency.

I was upset because I knew I wouldn't be able to send payment until the next morning, so I was going to have to put my customer off for a day...

Anyway, I sent payment at 8:30 a.m., and received my logos by 9:00 a.m.

He's amazing!!! I will never spend a day tracing a complicated logo ever again!

Dixie

I wasn't questioning his abilities, more just how can he make money on such a low fee, sort of like how we discuss our pricing and figure out how we undervalue our service.

I think Pete would raise his prices if he thought he should and most of us would pay it, but I've seen other sites that offer said service for about the same price. I know he works pretty fast cause he did one for me in no time at all and I paid somewhat more for the fast turnaround.

Not sure how many he does in a day (or hour) but he could be making a very nice wage at the price he's charging.

He has to compete with other sites so his prices aren't way below others. Where he stands out is how quickly he can do it. Of course, after all the talk up at Vegas he may be getting busier and will adjust prices accordingly for rush orders.

Glad he's around to help the graphically challenged, like me.

If Pete doesn't make you money, it's your own fault.

Someone asked if he ever slept. I dunno, but I've gotten artwork from him at all hours of the night and day.

The guy truly is amazing...I certainly can't afford to do the work he does for $9. Besides, I don't think I really WANT to.

Bill - look under "links" - then "bitmap to vector conversions"
(Links is at the top of your forum page)

If you need bitmap to vector - and who does not in this business- Pete is the man.

That is the 'Links' in the top color bar, not 'Links of Interest'.

We have to figure out different wording for one of them, I do not like the duplication of a keyword, it can get confusing.

Harvey,

How about "Other Forums of Interest", rather than "Links of Interest"?
