Full Version: Another Quickbooks question

Howdy y'all!!

I have another of the seemingly endless questions on Quickbooks...

Does anyone know how to change the column titles on the "Item List" screen?

Some of the titles that they've chosen are entirely too long, and some don't even "match" similar columns. I like to get a lot of information from a single screen, so I have several non-default columns in the Item List.

For example, the column that displays your Balance On Hand has a title of "On Hand". Personally, I would prefer "BOH", but it's not such a big deal.

The column for the quantity on sales orders is "On Sales Order". That's not what I would have chosen, but I can live with it.

The one that REALLY gets me is for the quantity of parts on purchase orders. It's called "Quantity on Purchase Order". This title takes up a lot of valuable real estate, and I would LOVE to change it.

Is that possible?

Thanks!

Cody

(P.S. - No, this isn't the biggest problem in my little world today, but it's one of the most frustrating.)

Cody,

If I understand you question, this should answer it. This is done in QB Pro 2004
At the top of your invoice/estimate/purchase order toward the left hand side a customize button. Click on that and follow the directions below.

First, display the type of form you want to customize.

For example, to display the invoice form, from the Customers menu, choose Create Invoices. .

In the drop-down list of templates at the top of the form, click Customize.

Select the template you want to change.

Click Edit to edit the template. (If you want to create a new template based on the template you selected, click New instead.)

Enter your changes in the Customize window.

Click OK.

I hope this helps.

Chuck,

I needed to change the column heading names in my Item List...not in a form.

I just got off the phone with QB tech support, and they said that it couldn't be done. Rats.

Looks like I'll have to live with the cruddy names that they've assigned. The only thing I can do is give them some feedback on the names so that they might be different in the next version. Maybe they'll even let us customize the names next time around...we'll see.

Thanks anyway!

Cody

Cody,

You actually got thru to QB??????????

We only get non-returned voice mail, non returned e-mail or even better, messages that say, since you have not subscribed to QuickBooks tech services, we cannot help you (paraphrased)

I refuse to pay them to tell THEM what is wrong with their system.

>.<

B-)

That's the second time that I've called them. The first time was for activation, and I got right through. Today I had to leave a voicemail, but the guy called me back in about 30 minutes.

Not too bad...

Cody,

Wow! You must bring out the best in everyone! I've always just given up & accepted defeat anytime I couldn't figure out something in QB, rather than even TRYING to get help from them.

LOL

That's got to be the first time anybody has told me that!!!

I just bought two of the 2006 upgrades in the last month, and they come with free support for the first 30 days. I just HAD to try.

Good news: Got through to someone.

Bad news: There's no fix for the issue.

*sigh*
