Thank you. I believe Epson calls that the encoding strip and I'm sure it's an often-overlooked point of periodic maintenance.

I agree, good company.
CompassMicro has a web site with parts for epson printers. You can buy parts from them and don't have to be epson authorized.
I think the salesman I deal with is Rod.
