Aloha Gang,

I was talking with another forum member today on the phone, and we got to talking about JDS Industries and that they don't receive much comment on the forum so I thought I would start some.

Still considering myself new to the industry, I am still acquiring suppliers. Mostly I have been using JDS because they seem to have EVERYTHING a newbie needs in one place...

As I grow in experience, and as American Pacific Awards grows, I have continued to use JDS.

What I have found about JDS is they offer EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Even to the extent of "bending" their own rules regarding returns. They have good prices ( in my limited experience) and have gone above and beyond to provide me with superb customer service.

Further anytime I have a challenge, they go out of their way to help. Today I even found out that if you have a problem or a question about assembly of their products, they have a "research" facility where they will take THE parts that you have ordered and actually assemble the product to find out why you might be having a problem. Very cool. It's like your own personal tech research department..

Anyway, like most of you, I barely have time to be here.......so I must get back to setting up shop. Will it EVER be done?

Chuck,

People are more likely to report bad experiences with an industry supplier. That may explain the lack of comments regarding JDS.

I use them on the rare occasions I'm not engraving Other People's Stuff.

No complaints here.

I'm also a big fan of JDS and especially excited about their new Chicago warehouse which is only a couple hours from me!

That in and of itself is kind of sad and probably a thread for topic of your choice.....why are folks so quick to complain or critisize yet so slow to compliment or praise? The world would be a happier place were it reversed I think...........

Chuck,

No explanation, other than being human nature.

It's the same reason we don't see much good news, on nightly news broadcasts.

I'll also put my 2 cents in on JDS. They do have great customer service.

I agree with you 100% JDS is a great supplier. There entire attitude is how can we help you. I order from them daily and yesterday was the first time that an item was not in their Jacksonville warehouse. Actually they had the item, just not enough. Their people are also very knowledgeable and if they don't know the answer they find someone that does.

Seems like I've never had a back order with JDS. I have a warehouse only an hour away so if I had to I could always pick up direct.

I really like having the invoice emailed to me the same day as ordered. It's like having COD without the extra charge and I know what the shipping costs will be up front.

Kudos to JDS!

Can someone please give me a link to JDS? I tried JDS.com but that doesn't work...

Might explain why JDS won the ARA Supplier of the Year Award in Vegas, huh? :-)

Jeanette,

Not to change the subject, but exemplary customer service may be the reason "Daddy" won his ARA award (Rep of The Year?) for the umpteenth time. :-)

I'm quite proud of that guy -- mother's done a good job training him! ;-)

Since you brought it up, he won the ARA Sales Rep of the Year and the ARA Speaker of the Year awards.

Oh, multiple awards! Not surprising.

Didn't mean to shortchange him. :-)

Doing volume orders on a daily basis, the most important thing from a supplier is availability and even more important than price(but they are usually the lowest to, a bonus). If you can't get it you can't sell it no matter how much it is.

Some of my biggest headaches are caused by having something on display that is not available in large quantities in a day or two.

JDS is the industry leader in that area. If you order from their website, it tells you instantly if something is not available in the quantity you ordered at the warehouse closest to you.(it usually is) It gives you alternate locations that it is available at and allows you to choose the shipping priority and quantity from each location. It is amazing to me that the orders show up the next day without fail even if they were placed late in the afternoon the day before.

Other suppliers are very lucky that they do not carry everything.

The only quality problems I have had with there things are the piano finished plaques.

Your mother and father have done a great job raising a family. We want you to know you rank right up there with your father. The success of any organization is not a result of the actions of one, but the culmination of the quality work from many. Trust me, your efforts do not go un-noticed.
