Full Version: I need your help with text

I know someone has an answer to this. I need to vector cut small letters in Corel (X3). Many of the fonts I need to use have very skinny letters when I give them a hairline outline. When I choose a thicker pen size, the laser engraver raster engraves rather than vector cuts. This leaves rough edges. Is there any way to thicken the letters? Can you select a thicker pen width to beef them up and then somehow apply a hairline outline to do the vector cutting. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I hope I've made myself clear on what I'm trying to do.

Thanks Richard Olson

You need to "offset" the letters to beef them up.
Click on the font with the select tool , apply NO fill and set the outline to hairline
Then use the contour tool to give them an offset outwards , go to arrange and break the contour group apart , delete the inner section , cut the red letters in the drawing (see my attachment)

Did you select 'Bold'?

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is that most of the fonts that I use are not available in bold. That would sure make life easier.
Thanks....Richard Olson
