Bruce,
Sometimes I feel so stupid. I have the stick stuff that came with the Metaza and have seen the big mats at shows.
My first reaction when my wife bought what you described, maybe two years ago, was that it was the same material. Where I feel so stupid is that I never put the two together as an engraving tool that was cheap.

When I got the loaner machine from Roland for the dog tag project they sent me "hold down adhesive". They are 5.5 x 8.5 double sided sticky pads. We have only changed the pads twice since we started engraving 4 months ago. We lay the tags down and they stay even tho we are drag engraving. When it starts to lose the tackiness, I wipe it with a wet paper towel. Consider that we have done 42 tags at a time and engraved probably 14,000 tags on this machine using these pads. It is great.
I decided to try to use it for Flexi Brass name badges. It works great!
I like it much better than the rubber pads.
It comes in packages of 10 and the part number is AS-10 for $34.99

Interesting idea! Would you happen to have a Staples part number for that? I searched staples.com website and couldn't find this product.
As my "luck" goes, whenever I am looking for something specific - such as the sticky pad - I can never seem to find it.
Such that if I were to go to Staples tomorrow and I ABSOLUTELY needed to get some staples, they wouldn't have any, and the "sales" staff would not have a clue as to what I was looking for.

They are usually called pads for cell phones for cars, maybe with non-slip or sticky in the name.
I cannot remember exactly what it was called when my wife bought it. Be aware that they are molded with flat 'fingers' sticking up.
I may want to try one on my engraver. When I get the time I will research it more and post if I find anything.

If anyone is going to use these in a laser, hope you folks will check to see what this product is made of before you go lasing on it and possibly ruining your machine.

Yes, but accidents happen...still a good thing to know, especially if it's PVC.

This MIGHT be static cling vinyl material. I dont think it has the sponge hole characteristics needed to "hold" material in place. The sticky pad is somewhat thicker, and has zero transparency. The shades looked like they diffused the light, but let it pass through. Let me know if I'm wrong, so I can order some too!
I've been using the "sticky pads" for 3 months now. They are avaliable at our local autozone automotive store. I found they do move a bit when doing small 1 x 3 plates. (diamond drag) But I use them on large plates and they work great! And they are just a bit cheaper than the multimat.

Be careful with it when you find it. Square tuits are easy to find but round ones are extremely rare these days.

Speaking of... Has anyone succombed and cut out a disk of wood or acrylic and etched TUIT on it yet? Old joke, but I was still thinking about doing it, maybe using wood and putting my logo (that I haven't come up with yet) and/or name (or website) on the other side. Be a good freebee to give out.

I remember as a kid (many moons ago) that my dad had one of those. I don't remember what logo it had on the reverse, but it DID have something along with "TUIT".
I've thought about doing those, but don't know yet whether we'll DUIT.
