Full Version: Farewell and Hello

If you haven't noticed, there are currently only two moderators pictured on the start page of the forum. (I know, I know, it looks much better now.) There are a couple primary reasons that I have decided to resign my duties as a moderator of this forum.

1). My business volume has grown to a point where I am finding it more and more difficult to commit the time necessary to perform the job of moderator at a level I feel the title deserves.

2). I've been involved in this forum because I enjoy the exchange of infomation and the positive relationships that have developed from that exchange. I feel that the many relationships I value are threatened with the developments of the past few days, and I want to put myself into a position where maybe I can do us all some good as some form of mediator, for the benefit of all. Of course, time will tell how effective I am with this self-appointed title, but I sincerely hope I can do some good for all of us.

I'm going to gather my thoughts, and when I get a moment or two, I'd like to share some constructive thoughts that we can pick apart and develop into something that will hopefully be great for all of us.

P.S. I have no plans of throwing anyone under the bus.

Well I guess I'm also gonna have to keep in touch through "Skype" if I can ever get you to answer the phone on there. Have Chuck on my contact list in "Skype" and he has gotten so busy, I never see him online any more.

David,

I have Skype set up on three different computers at work and home. There are times that it may show I am active, but it may actually be my wife and/or daughter. The only reason I may not answer a call is because my hands are tied up on a project, or I'm with a customer.

As of late, I seem to be completing projects just before customers are coming through the door to pick them up. Accommodating the last minute graduation gift shoppers is quite a juggling act. I haven't had much time to chat lately.

Hi David ... was wondering what happened to you and I am glad you are alive and doing well. I wish you success with your business and hope you will find your way 'home' again when time permits! Your insight and comments were very valuable to me and I am sure others on this great forum!

John,

I will be around here more than you will probably like, but lately it's been so crazy I've hardly have time to work on a job description for the process of hiring a new staff member. Oh well, it can't be too bad, I've had time to post a few messages here.

Hi David ... well, I will never feel you are around here too much, and I am certain I can say with certainty that most, if not all, of my fellow compadres say the same thing! :-)

John,

I'll be around here plenty. It will likely come in streaks.

I'm still trying to stay on top of all of the posts. I've read 'em all. I may be stretching the truth on that last comment a little bit because there was a thread a few months ago where the exchange became a bit ridiculous, so I took the opportunity to push the ignore button on that one. :-)

I admit that the first approach to making the forum a one-level, subscription-based website was a complete miscalculation of the market. This happens frequently when new products or services are introduced to the market. What is important now is for David to adjust his concept to the market response. As long as a new offer makes good fair sense, I'm sure Engraving Etc. will remain the premier online venue of discussion of the A&E industry.

What I still look forward to are the learning and sharing opportunities that are looming on the horizon with the website portion of the new EE. With an entity with some modest cash flow, just think of how much more can be developed and offered to us in the future.

(Reporter):
Hello, everyone, this is your action news reporter with all the news
that is news across the nation, on the scene at the supermarket. There
seems to have been some disturbance here. Pardon me, sir, did you see
what happened?

(Witness):
Yeah, I did. I's standin' overe there by the tomaters, and here he
come, running through the pole beans, through the fruits and vegetables,
nekkid as a jay bird. And I hollered over t' Ethel, I said, "Don't
look, Ethel!" But it's too late, she'd already been incensed.

(Chorus)
Here he comes, look at that, look at that
There he goes, look at that, look at that
And he ain't wearin' no clothes

Oh, yes, they call him the Streak
Look at that, look at that
Fastest thing on two feet
Look at that, look at that
He's just as proud as he can be
Of his anatomy
He goin' give us a peek

Oh, yes, they call him the Streak
Look at that, look at that
He likes to show off his physique
Look at that, look at that
If there's an audience to be found
He'll be streakin' around
Invitin' public critique
