Full Version: Color palette help, feel stupid

Along with my laser engraver came an alternative Corel palette that it would recognise for power levels etc. I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to use it. I have gone over the X3 documentation over and over and just can't figure it out. I would like it if the alternate palette would be the only one that would show up or just be the default.

You guys have helped me so much in the past, it's greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Richard Olson

Richard,

If this is for a ULS system the color pallets are on the Driver CD. Here is how you load it.

1)Locate your system Driver CD and put in the drive
2)Open Corel X3
3)Go to WINDOW and then COLOR PALLETS
4)Select NONE
5)Go back to WINDOW and then COLOR Pallets and then OPEN Pallet
6)change the file type to PROCESS Pallet (.PAL)
7)navigate to the Driver CD
8)Locate the ULS.Pal on the CD and double click it

This will load the ULS color pallet into corel once it is loaded go to TOOLS and then OPTIONS and then DOCUMENT and place a check mark in the save defaults box and it will save the color pallet for the next time you open Corel.

If you don't have the ULS system then forget this post and hopefully someone else will chime in.

Thanks for the information Mike, my palett had disappeared as well. One question, how do I set the default for red outline when I draw a box? Seems both of my computers have defaulted back to black for some reason

Brian,

I have always wondered why laser manufacturers say "Red" hairlines for vector cutting when black ones work just as well. Is there something that I don't understand. Please let me know...Thanks Richard Olson

Brian,

Open Corel and click on the outline tool, click on that same tool in the fly out menu. You will get a message that says you are changing the outline properties just place a check in GRAPHIC if it is not already checked. click the OK This will open up the outline dialog box select the red color from the color section and the hairline from the width section. Click apply.

Once you change these settings go to TOOLS / OPTIONS / DOCUMENT and save the default settings.

Richard,

The vector color does not make any difference. It is used this way because win XP engraves in color order so if you have your vector in black and your raster in red then the system would cut first and then engrave.

Its just one of those XP quirks you can vector in any color you want as well as raster but beware that it goes by color order.

In Win 95/98/Me Corel would engrave in drawing order (what you did first would engrave first).

Who knows why we just got into a habit of using Black for raster engraving and red for vector cutting.

Doesn't your system do the engraving first, regardless of the color, and then vector?

It depends on what Operating system and driver that is being used.
