Full Version: Notification

Ken,

My response from John Fish, was that the forum software is working fine and email notification issues are due to ISP considerations, i.e. spam settings etc.

Pretty much what Harvey laid out in his post.

Thanks to all. Believe me, I know what I'm fixin' to say (yes, that's proper grammar in Texas) is what everybody says when they have computer problems but -- I haven't changed anything. It worked fine before (up until a few days ago); now it doesn't work.

Daddy's not getting his notifications either. I'm guessing something in our ISP cyberspace must have changed ... or, yes, the luggage fairy is being vengeful.

Oh well, I'll just keep logging in manually to check for replies to both of us.

Your ISP may have blocked that source because of too many emails being generated from that one source.

The forum gets busy and the ISP's now consider us spam. Duh.

Jeanette,

Just checking to see if you're getting EE notifications.

John Fish found a snag, which I think has been worked out.

Only the replies I get from you...... ( insert laugh here, sort of)... Yes Jeanette I do get email notifications.

Why should he when he has ME?

Still nothing at this end. I'll check with daddy to see if he's still having the same problem too.

Not that big of a deal since (unless I'm out of town, very seldom), I never miss a day checking up on everyone here!

Hmmm...that's not good news.

The fact that you check in daily is. :-)

Please let us know if your Dad is receiving his notifications.

Jeanette,
Harv was sure that I was getting notifications when I said I wasn't. Imagine his surprise this weekend when he discovered that I wasn't! (devil) He did something to my computer and now I am getting them. I will have him email you his fix.

Dee

My fix was simple, that computer lost the setting to synchronize the forum mail notification account on startup.

My gut says it is spam blocking by your IP.

The return path is anonymous@u15191782.onlinehome-server.com

My gut is that the 'anonymous' is being blocked by the spam filters.

Nope ... but our ISP guy is a good friend & customer. He's going to look deeper into this for me today. Thanks for asking!

Jeannette,

I have six different e-mail addresses that I funnel into my Microsoft Outlook mail program. I have tried them all and discovered there is only one of the e-mail addresses that is compatible with the forum notifications. I've resigned myself to it for now and just assigned the one that is not conflicting.

I know that John Fish was looking into this. There are others who are having the same issue.

At least I'm not alone. Thanks for the input. My ISP guy gave me a couple of assignments, which should trouble shoot the problem at this end. Problem is, I haven't made the time yet to complete the assignments!

I will be willing to bet that if you set up a mail account such as forum at engraving concepts dot com you will receive the notifications unless you have spam blockers on your server.

Yes, I'm talking to myself.

Testing this one by temporarily changing my discussion board email address.

David;

Maybe John Fish could set up an e-mail account with auto-reply so forum members could send an e-mail to that address and, if they got a reply, they would know that that their e-mail address was good?

Carl,

Makes sense. I'll run the suggestion by John.

Thanks,
