Just a quick note to congratulate Ogilvy and the Aussies on the great win at the USGA Open here in NY at Wingfoot.
A tough week for them all, but a very tough ending for Mickelson and the others that were leading at 4 & 5 OVER until the last two holes.

I was happy to see Ogilvy win. Poor "Monty" and Phil let it slip away.

Senior Open is coming to my town in a couple of weeks - looking forward to going out a couple of days. Palmer, the Shark are among those coming however Jack isn't.
Been trying to dream up a way to make some quick cash off of an event like this (and the Women's Open several years ago) but, as usual am on the outside looking in. Big business has it locked up.
Funny thing happened with the Women's Open. The country club really talked up the amount of people it would draw and a lot of businesses stocked up for the event. Sales tax revenue for that month actually took a fair drop for the city and county. People were upset.
Seems golfers want only to watch golf all day, eat drink and be merry afterward not shop and sight see. Hard lesson learned.

Yes it was a great win by our little battler from Victoria Australia Down Under. Monty and Mickelson had their chance but just simply blew it however it's Ogilvy's Open and the sooner the Americans can except it the better. The reports we are getting down here is he didn't win it, they lost it.
I seem to recall several years ago how the Shark lost a couple of majors by freak shots , but that's golf and he certainly ain't crying about it.
But thanks Steve for your thoughts and I'm sure that all Australians would support you, "that it was a great win.
All we need now to captivate a great week of sport is the Socceroos to beat Croatia and advance to the final 16 in the world cup

One of my dear friends is the General Manager of Prairie Dunes. Together, we managed sister golf courses for the City of Overland Park, KS for almost 10 years. My accountant had the pleasure of playing Prairie Dunes with him this past weekend.
The problem with an event like this is that the United States Golf Association (U.S.G.A.) controls all of the logoed product sales. Other than food and drink, logoed goods is what the spectators spend their money on. All of the profit from the sale of those goods leaves Hutchinson and gets carried to New Jersey, the home state of the U.S.G.A.
Typically, the hosting golf course golf shop isn't even allowed to sell the U.S. Open gear, although they do quite well selling their own proprietary logoed apparel and trinkets.
I wish your town the best of success with this years event. Get that western Kansas wind cranked up and put those old guys to the test.
