Full Version: Corel Draw and ai files

It looks like I may have to break down and upgrade my Illustrator software even though the only reason I use it is to backsave ai files so they can be imported into Corel Draw. What are others doing to import post-version 7 ai files into CorelDRAW X3?

David, I would wait if you can on the AI upgrade until Corel comes out with a service pack to X3 that should be sometime in July according to Foster Coburn. X3 has a problem in opening some .AI and .EPS files that is supposed to be fixed with the patch. Do you have Corel 12? What I do is open the .AI files in 12, which has no problems opening the problem files, saving it in a CDR format and than work with is in X3. BTW, if we did have a storefront, I would have you design it. Great shop!!!

Dave,

For some reason I thought I was having the same problem with version 12, so I didn't even try that. I opened 12 and it imported just fine. Another "DUH" moment. Thanks for opening my eyes.

Thanks for the compliment on the shop. Are you going to be building a new home-based shop with the highway coming through your current one? Oops, here I go again taking a thread off topic. Feel free to PM me.
