I was visiting another forum I enjoy and found a thread like this to be very interesting. Well here is the trail I've left behind. Maybe our paths have crossed.

I grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA. (18 years)

I went off to college in Big Rapids, MI. (2 years) During college I worked a couple of internships, one in Battle Creek, MI, the other in Topeka, KS. I ended up staying in Topeka and attending college there. (3 years)

Following my Topeka stint, I then moved with my employer to manage a faciltiy in Overland Park, KS. (3 years)

From there I made another career advancement which took me to Crown Point, IN. (3 years)

I then returned to former employer in Overland Park, KS after manager passed from cancer. (10 years)

I then accepted a position in St. Joseph, MO, worked it for a year and a half, then decided to do my own gig and started my awards and engraving business. (7 years)

I was born in Canada, but lived in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and back to Canada before moving to Detroit when I was 8. Lived there 10 years and then 10 days after graduating high school moved to Europe, and lived in Holland for a year.

Back to Detroit for 10 months before moving to NYC. Gave that up quick and moved to the catskills then Binghamton, NY. Stayed there 3 years then back to the catskills for 2 years, then back to Binghamton for a year before moving downstream 20 miles to my current location in 1979. Been here 27 years now.

If you watched CNN at all this past week, you know that 20 miles downstream from Binghamton, NY was not a good place to be this past week. :O  (my house and business were spared from the floods)

Wow..this is an interesting thread for me because it comes at a crossroads of my life.
I have lived in Lebanon PA all my life...nowhere else.

And my husband's career path is taking him potentially either to Columbus OH or Bradenton FL. So, for the first time in my life, I am faced with the prospect of moving from here.

I found Harold's post fascinating because of all the places he has lived...such a foreign concept for me.

Great thread David!!

Didn't know any personally but if I recall one was a lawyer.
There are several unusual names from around there that I haven't ran across in many places.

Hey, Dave, what high school did you go to ?? I went to Jefferson :)  West side is the best side :LOL

I lived in Ft. Madison, IA until I was 11 and we moved to ..... you guessed it .... Cedar Rapids, IA

After that I lived in Iowa City and in the country and in small towns in between the 2 cities until the mid '80's. Starting a family and being a single parent and returning to college as an older student. I met my current husband, we married and moved to Mesa, Az. (Good Lord, was it really 20 years ago???)

I started my career as a computer consultant (at a later age than most) so we moved to AZ.

We got homesick and moved back to the Tiffin / Oxford/Iowa City area (my husband is from Oxford, IA)

Again a career move and we moved back to Phoenix in '93
and finally to southern Iowa in '95 where we bought a farm and I traveled to keep working, but the family stayed put.

I quit my career after burn out in 2002. Unfortunately a few months later my husband was severely injured in a construction accident. I took care of him for the next couple of years and we decided that things needed to change in our lives since he would not be able to go back to work. We are still fighting SSDI for his disability.

I started my embroidery business and we sold part of the farm to finance everything so I could go to large horse shows. Being so rural, I didn't feel that there was enough business to support us locally.

I have added dye-sub in the past year and love it. I am not sure about the direction of my business right now. After 3 years in business, I am going to have to go back to computer consulting to be able to keep us afloat for awhile. I know that marketing is my downfall and am working on it.
