I am not sure how to recreate this image in CD12. I found the polygon tool that would allow me to make the shape, but I am not sure how to achieve the curve of the points. If anyone can explain how to do this that would be great.

Thanks
Harold

The outside shape? Rounded corners?

After creating the polygon, click on the shape tool. Then select one of the nodes of the polygon by clicking on it. In the shape tool property bar, click on the "make node symmetric" icon. Then press delete (DEL key). All the corners will be rounded. Is that what you are after? You can then convert the shape to curves and, using the shape tool, modify individual nodes to match your outline.

If you don't convert the shape to curves first, any changes to a node will change all the nodes.

{Sorry, left out a step - make node symmetric}

Hello, I must be holding my mouth wrong....cause all that happens when I try that is I delete part of the object. What I want to do is make a star to cut out of acrylic but don't want the points to be sharp. So I thought that this would round the points. Could you tell me what I'm doing wrong. I have the star selected then click on the shape tool, select a node then hit delete. Presto part of the star is gone. Bottom line I want to make the points of the star rounded for safety's sake.

Nick;

The stars are a little different. And I left out a step for the polygons, which I have updated.

For the stars: Create the star. Then convert it to curves (Arrange> Convert to curves). Click on the shape tool. Select all of the nodes. In the property bar for the shape tool, click on the Convert Line to Curve icon. Then delete (double click on) each point node. You can also leave the point nodes and modify each handle of each node to produce a rounded a corner.

You can then drag each curve. You might want to start with a circle around the star so you can keep it symmetric.

Hey Carl,

Thanks for taking the time to explain the star procedure to me. It was really helpful.

You're very welcome. There's usually more than one way to do something in CorelDraw so don't be afraid to click a few buttons to see what happens. You might find an easier way!
