How many of you make lables ( the peel and stick kind)?. I mostly do industrial type of engraving. Lately when making sales calls I have noticed more and more industries are using sticker type labels to mark their products. One company even had a machine that would print on the stickers. They would buy the blank stickers and would run them through a machine that would print the info on the stickers.

Anyone doing this??

Thanks Cindy

Yeh , we do a ton of this , we have a 1.37m wide inkjet printer that prints on most anything and then proceeds to die cut em to any shape.
It's a Roland Sc540 pro II EX
We either supply the printed and cut decals as is , or we overlaminate them with various cold cast overlaminates (matte/soft matte/clear/wheatgrain) for an indestructible label or we dome them with a flexible urethane. The printer can print on vinyls , banner , tyvek, foils , polysilk , styrene , abs etc and if it has a carrier , the material can be die and kiss cut.
Cost to print these die cut stickers is at the worst $15 per sq meter and normally runs to about $8-10. 1400 sq inches to a sq meter , so a 3" x 2" decal costs about 5-6 c to make and sells for a lot more
A machine like the Roland SP300 is ideal for a smaller sign shop or to do this on a limited but useful scale. Digital printing is the way to go these days

Rodney,
Thanks for the information. This is something I think I would like to investigate further. Any more information you can give me on this is appreciated.

Thanks Cindy

Is the inkjet printer water based ink, similar to the home printers?
