Full Version: Help with Vision Engraver

I am trying to get my vision 1212 engraver to work, and can't just seem to get it to start engraving using engravelab 7.

Now, I haven't used Engravelab nor this engraver before, so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong - any advice is appreciated.

Connections appear to be good. I'm on the correct Com port 2(I tested it on a label printer I have, and it printed fine, so the port/cable works). I have the port configured at 19,200, N, 8, 1, hardware.

When I send a job to the engraver, a little dialog box pops up, shows numbers and reads:

Engraving to Com2:
Bytes Sent: 444

Then it just gets stuck there. The green start button doesn't light on the engraver doesn't light.

Question on the engraver:

Should it move or something when I turn it on? It just sits there, flashes lights, and then the lights go solid. I can turn the prox sensor on/off, the pause button will turn red. The jog up/down doesn't do anything, the green button for turning spindle on/off stays on.

Can someone give me some trouble shooting tips?

Thanks.

Check the manual of the 1212 for the input baud rate, (and other settings).

19,200 sounds a bit high. Usually, in my limited experience they default to 1200 but can be set up to 9600 on the older models. Baud rates must match or it is only garbage that comes in.

Depending on the size of the job 444 bytes might be right, but sounds low except for maybe one letter. If the layout contained at least a full word, it is probably a baud rate conflict.

Thanks for the advice, but those are the right settings.

However, I did figure out what the problem was. :-$

This machine has an emergency stop button on it. I didn't realize that the button can be locked down by pushing it down and turning it. This is the position it was in, so all this time the engraver has been in emergency stop. >.<

I unlocked the emergency stop, and every appears to be working fine.

Thanks.

We have had that problem with the NH Orbiter a few times also. It locks down when pressed, but does not show much.

You are not alone.
