Please help me getting customer's logos into Gravostyle so I can work with them. I can trace a bitmap no problem, but how do I make part of it filled in? For example, if I have a rectangle and I wanted to have the left side filled in and the other side just a thin outline? I am using CorelTrace to open a bitmap, I then Advance Outline and save the trace. I open with CorelDraw and remove unwanted parts and move the nodes about a bit to produce a nice clear outline of the image. Saving image a PLT file to import into Gravostyle. Open a new job in Gravostyle and insert the image but it is only the outline. I need to be able to have parts of it filled in. What am I missing here? Any help would be great.

Have you tried filling the shape in Gravostyle, as opposed to Corel?

I'm assumming you do not have the graphics upgrade to GS98.

In corel, fill area to be routed out with a color.

Export hpgl - in the advanced tab choose simulated fill and remove hidden lines. choose the line spacing.

You may have answered a question I had. I did a logo in Corel and set the HPGL filter to crosshatch with a 45* and 135*. I only got one angle of line. I thought it might have been because the letters were too thin. Now I think it might have been because the letters were unfilled. Something for me to try.

I managed to do a cross hatch fill today...yahoo... The other problem I came up against was this....
If you have a letter "D" and you cross hatch fill it, how do you make the inside part of the letter NOT be cross hatched? When I import the .PLT file into Gravostyle, I get a big blob of a "D". This would also be a problem with the letter P, A, O etc...
Any ideas will be helpful

Is there a combine function in gravostyle.

You can combine the 2 objects of each letter in coreldraw. This leaves the donut hole unfilled, not just a white object over a black object like some lasered art is done.

But in Xenetech when you paste them in they are no longer combined and have to do it there again.

Not sure if gravostyle has a combine, but it likely does.

Gravo98 has a 'Link' function that does the same. It is in the left toolbar and looks like three circles with a red circle around it. Then you get a very loud kissing sound when you select it, darned French programmers.

In the 'Fx' selection you can also do a cut function which will cut out the center from the outer object.

LOGOJOHN, I don't think the non graphic version will allow link or unlink in GS98.

cracker,

Make sure you have your objects combined with no duplicates under the original. when importing EPS's make sure they don't have duplicated lines. EPS's do it different than corel.

Import back into corel to verify what it will look like in GS98.

View wireframe in corel.

Also view as lines in GS98.

Another method of filling is contour filling in corel.
have your objects combined in corel-use no fill and no fill in the contour control - set black color on the lines.

I have even used the contour with light to dark fill to create 3D with the laser.

If you export as eps, the nodes will be smoother when importing into GS98.

And all this time I thought that was Dee in the background when I was talking to you. Darn French programmers.

David,
You should see the looks we get from people when "the glass breaks" or the "kissing" starts.

Yeah! And then, when you and/or Harvey start up the computer, ya gotta see what they do! ;-)

:O

My customers also wonder what is going on in the back room. One minute there's a kiss and the next minute there's breaking glass.
