Full Version: Font Management

I use Font Navigator to manage my fonts but I have a question.
How do you group your fonts by type? I thought that they would have a category or group or style embedded in the source code and grouping would be easy. Not so as far as I can tell. I would love to group similar styles but need someone to help me figure out how to do so without it being up to my judgement.

There is something embedded, but a lot of typemakers do not use it correctly, especially the free fonts.

How do I find the key to unlock that feature on the fonts that I paid for with my system and programs? It seems like I have a high performance sports car and all I am using it for is to drive to the store.

I'm not sure this answers your question but have you looked at all the options in the Font Nav. view menu.

If you are using Font Navigator, under 'File' there is something to search for fonts. This will find all fonts on the system no matter where they are.

The right window shows all of the installed fonts.

The left window shows ALL fonts.

Drag a font from the left window to the right window and it will be installed.

To remove a font from installation, (not from the computer), click on it in the RIGHT window and press 'DELETE'.

Hi James
I am not sure what you are asking but I'll give it an answer based on what I think you are asking. If you just want to look at types of fonts or styles you can use the view menu and select the types and styles you want to see. This will show you only the styles you select. If you want a group of types or styles that you use all of the time, you can do the following:
1- Go to file and create a new group name it whatever you like.
2- Then just drag the fonts you want from your list into that group.
3- You can have the same font in many groups if you like
4- From there you can install a whole group in and out of your system by dragging the group into installed.

I use this all of the time and usually have about 10 groups for script, block and various fonts that I use for certain jobs. Hope this might help a little

I bet you are good at reading your customer's minds too. I knew it had to be easier than I was making it. Sometimes I run into the trees while looking at the forest. This time I walked all the way through the darn forest and into the desert without even seeing the trees. Thank you for pointing out the obvious to me. I can not believe I missed that.

Thanks again,
