(This item is no longer available.)

I have up for sale an HP4550 LaserJet Printer with 4 OEM toner cartridges that are 90%+ full, plus 4 Alpha Supply Sublimation Toner Cartridges. The black sublimation cartridge is brand new, unopened, while the C,M,Y are estimated to be at about 40-50% full.

Everything is in excellent working order and ready to start generating revenue for you. I am asking $600 for everything. The new black toner is valued at over $300 by itself. This means you are getting the printer and all of the rest of the toner for $300.

Shipping would be at the buyer's expense.

Please PM me if you have any interest or questions.

P.S. I have more details.

I bought the printer on January 12, 2004. It was an HP factory refurbished printer, so it was like new when I received it.

It shows that I have printed 1,699 pages since 1/12/2004.

There is no network card.

I did add additional memory, so I think that makes it a total of 192K.

Fuser Life - 97% Life Remaining
Transfer Life - 95% Life Remaining
Drum - 60% Life Remaining (this is something that is readily available and can be easily replaced by the user when need be.)

What's the deal with the deleted messages?

It was such a great deal that people began to fight over it and deleting the messages was the only way to break it up. :S

Seriously, the one I deleted was the same message that I decided to add in red text to the original post. I am not sure what the other deletion was, but it is likely from someone who realized I wanted a response via PM.

One of the deleted messages was mine - I responded to David then re-read the post and saw that the wanted a PM not replies on the board - so as not to show my mistake :-$  by not completely reading and comprehending his message I opted for what seemed to be the only recourse that I could find -DELETE. I beg for forgiveness :'-(

David & Joe,

OK, you guys are off the hook...for now. :-)

Thanks for the clarification.

So, David, is the machine sold? If so, I'll make a note of that in the discussion title.

I actually pulled it off the market. It took a while to soak in, but it made more sense for me to hold onto this system because of the shortcomings that I became aware of on the alternative method I was going to replace this with.

This is a whole new discussion, but it is amazing how each of the various color transfer processes has its limitations and strengths.

My product focus is very narrow with the color transfer process, so I really can't justify having multiple systems. On top of that, the alternative process I was considering requires a much longer pressing time, which was fine, but also a 10-minute post-baking of the metals, which is something that doesn't lend itself well to my type of operation.

David,

Having seen all of the choices and having done full-color laser sublimation, I'm still a proponent of ink jet sublimation.

All full-color systems have their pros and cons, but ink jet has covered more of my bases.

Even with sublimation out of the mix, the HP4550 makes a great printer for OEM custom certificates, post cards and other color office printing tasks.

I will add my '2 cents worth' and totally agree with David on his choices. After buying the 'alternative system' I decided it didn't do what I wanted it to do and have kept my HP4550 and upgraded to an Epson 4800 ... which I LOVE by the way ... I don't see how anyone doing sublimation with any mid-hi level of production gets by with a 1280 (my personal experience, of coure).
I like the 4550 for, as does David for mostly black on silver/gold plates ... plus this printer serves as my office printer and switching the toner cartridge to a sublimation toner cartridge is about a 1 minute process with no residual toner particals/ mess to deal with.
