Has any one had a Universal laser tube charged? I think mine is out. I am trying to etch a piece of acrylic and I can not eve cut thru paper transfer tape.
Can someone tell me the procedure for getting this done?

Sure ruins my day.

Hi
There are probably a few things you should check first. I do not know what model you have as it is not in you profile.
I have an older 25E and do not know what to check on the newer models.

- focus height
- alignment test
- send an email to ULS tech support or call them (may have to wait until Tuesday)

First check the mirrors for cleanliness and alignment. If it is autofocus be sure that is working properly.

Was this very sudden or slowly getting worse?

This tube is on a 7 year old Vytec laser. I have only been using this laser ocaisonally for the last year since I bought my epilog. I have thought the power was getting lower, but since I do not use that laser much I was not to concerned. But I need it for a job I am working on. The lens is clean and the alignment is good so I am not sure what else it could be.

The reason for the question was that an electronic failure usually is quite sudden, (even though not always). It works then does not work.

One thing missed in manufacturer's cleaning instructions is the window that the laser light enters the main part of the machine. You must move the overhead toward you and if the red diode spot is on you will see the window if it is dirty, you will slightly see the dot on the window if clean.

I have no knowledge of Vytec so I hope someone else can answer your question. How good is their phone service?

Vytecs service rates about -100 I have it cutting, sort of, I have slowed the speed down to 5 ips. I am now cutting thru the paper mask. I think with 2 cuts I will be able to get what I need. but each run will take about 7 hrs.

That is far too long, but if it gets it done, it gets it done.

Just be sure to check the window, if it is dirty, all of the heat normally generated will be in that one spot. Fractures and cracks will form.

What I have heard, it usually is not the tube itself that usually goes, it is the RF (Radio Frequency) circuitry that goes.

-100% is fairly poor in service quality.

Wish I could be of help. There do not seem to be others that frequent the forum with that laser that know the answer.

James,

What you need to do is first get ahold of customer service at ULS 1-480-609-0297. Give them the serial number on the laser tube, Tell them that it is on a Vytec system.

They will then let you know what to do.
